Got a wee heads up for you today and this is a quick post as I'm realllllly busy this week, but here's a couple of great tunes from an Erol Forum friend and top lad by the name of Faisal. He suffered somewhat of a setback last year when his hard drive failed and all of his samples/production work was lost.
He's steadily been getting himself back together, and the setback can't all be a bad thing, as he's managed to come up with these cheeky tunes. Clearly he's been hard at work since the turn of the year, and with current support from the one and only Kissy Sell Out as of later tonight on Radio 1, Faisal will certainly be moving in the right direction. Congrats, and please keep up the work dude.
It's not a style that I really post often myself on this blog, but these are some top tunes. Quite a different French house take to what I'm used to... but I'm a sucker for deep rolling basslines, especially when they're accompanied by the synths on Get Down. Quality stuff... and as for Faisal's take on Soulwax's of E-Talking, vocals, vocals, vocals... I love how everything drops off slightly before the drop too, unexpected and worthy of praise. The stereo width and the drumming production on this remix is also, spot on... Festival destroyer for 2010 for sure!
So, I'm pretty sure most of you are familiar with a certain DJ/Producer and all round musical rave guru Sir Kissy Sell Out, as I refer to him. I've been a fan of his for a number of years now... always consistantly ahead of the game, a fine fine DJ, and now staying true to his word, by helping the support the best up and coming talent he can find.
This month finally curated and launched his own label that he's been blabbering on about for the past few months... and it's called San City High.
“The ethos of the label is to support the idea of ‘fair trade and freedom for artists’, so I hope that this sets a precedent so we can ALL give something back to the music industry. My love of other people's music has always motivated most things I do in life, so running my own record label where my job is basically to use that natural enthusiasm to help new artists develop their careers and rave on to other people about how good my team's tunes are is a dream come true! I've always believed record labels should be like clubs where you can hang out with friends who like the same things as you do - and that's all San City High is really, you'll never see the San City High logo heading an exclusive 360 multi-album deal contract, but your gonna see the logo fronting some hot music this year and maybe even some cool t-shirts too!”
He's gathered together four of his favourite up and coming producers and DJs for a special Sampler EP, and he's kindly giving away one of the tracks, a 16Bit remix of his single Garden Friends, for FREE! Grab it below...

A new week, with three new and one timeless classic mix for ya'll... some big things to come this week also from us, so keep checking back here in the next few days... the next in our very own mix series and some top new exclusives from the best in the biznizz!
First up this week is my favourite DJ of 2009... Kissy Sell Out. In my opinion no DJ in the world (I know, a bit of a bold claim) is able to fuse together such a melting pot of sounds, with such fine attention to detail.
If there is anyone in the DJ game that truly works for his salary its this Essex man. You'll never see him standing still or with his 'hands in the air' for more than half a second during on of his sets. Constantly flipping the sound and changing the beat.
He quickly rose up the ranks during 06'/07' and was offered an In New DJs We Trust spot on Radio 1, and then the same year was asked to pioneer his own show.
He's drawn some criticism in the past for his style of 'pre-warping' tunes to the same tempo before his sets, but as you'll soon see from this Essential Mix, those questions are soon blown out of the window, by the sheer intensity of his shows. An essential mix comprising of 55 tunes in 60 minutes, mixed by ear on CDJs with plenty of his own edits, mashups and dancefloor friendly specials.
Personally I admire DJs who push the boundaries of what should be technically possible for a human to be able to do with decks and a mixer... Kissy is certainly no exception and I've yet to find another DJ whose willing to play Beethoven, REM, Daft Punk and Jack Beats in the same one hour set, yet still make it danceable and fun.

Morning all... Another day, another post... and it's now officially THE WEEKEND!
Following on from last week's first Squeaks post... here's the first Bleeps post, aimed it focusing on five tunes that would typically be heard @ Fabric on a Friday night... down and dirty Electro, Breaks, Dubstep, DnB, and everything in between. Let's get to it!
This has been invading blogs over the past few weeks like a blood thirsty army on a crusade!
Just listen to that bassline... Jack Beats have done it again... I was never sure about the original... the breakdown just wasn't fitting for the drop, but this is booming insane, can't get enough of it!!! Be sure to catch them over the next month, they're playing @ Always Fridays @ The Egg tonight, and Matter on the 24th with Armand Van Helden, as well as a string of other dates over May and June in the UK.
Ok, ok, so this is old... but I needed to break it out of the 2008 closet and set it on fire once again... nothing gets me in the mood for a night out more than to hear those those bleeping leads and pulsating wobbly bassline. The purest tech-house banger out there, mashed up and given a whole new leash of life... if any of you (shame on you) have never heard this version before, then get right on it!

I've only listened to this a few times since it was posted, but one thing that had an immediate impression on me was the kick drums, they are tonk! I could see this being played at an electro/breaksy night as well as at end of a Sci/Techy night. It reminds me of Shake It Down, just without that ridiculous synth. Honestly, this remix is the shit! Roll forward the techno revolution!
I've always had a bit of a thing for Myagi, and when his remix of TCM's High Roller was included in their 10th anniversary release of their debut album 'Vegas', I was officially in love with his sound. He's somewhere in between Dylan Rhymes, Elite Force, Plump DJs and Orbital all at the same time. Poising his breaks sound on techy beats and beautifully layered synths, and his basslines never fail to impress! This tune is no exception. Although the break is a simple one... its all about the synths on this one... especially the one you hear within the first 5 seconds.... tasty tasty!!!!!
Finally, possibly one of the most recognisable Dubstep bangers out there given a pure love or hate make-over by Prime Cuts. Personally I diggit, and the sampling of Jack Beats' What just gives it that extra sickening edge... "You fackin' prat!"... ahhhhh this is getting so abused when I next play!
Thrills has really been getting a lot of attention recently - and it's definitely deserved - Kissy Sell Out played his refix/mashup of Chromeo and Skream recently on his Radio 1 show, and I've been playing it pretty much everytime I play out since I got it, and with great results. Thrills has done a whole series of dubstep refixes, all absolute bangers; he manages to give some of the biggest dubstep tracks out there a 4x4 workover.
His tracks have been getting support from a lot of heads, both stateside and in Europe: DJ Yoda, Drop the Lime, Mickey Slim, DZ and Nero. Another one of his dubstep refixes that got a lot of plays from me recently has to be his refix of the Jack Beats mix of Jack Got Jacked - AC Slater. Thrills draws out that ravey breakdown, speeds it up, and then it drops to that classic bassline, but with a slightly different bassline this time.
We've yet to hear any original material from Thrills, but I've no doubt that when we do it will be absolutely killer! In the meantime, his DJing is as good as his producing, so check out his dubstep mix:
