Jack Beats... are back!
After months of teasing and half a dozen times that I've heard this tune out in the past 4 or so months... it's come down to a YouTube exclusive unveiling from Jack Beats themselves to promote the release of their new EP. The double-A side... Revolution/Out of Body... out on Cheap Thrills on a Slime Green Wax 12" on June 21st... and Digitally on June 28th. I'll keep you posted on this one.
Surely one of the releases of the summer, and we'll be fed up with it in a few weeks, but just for now, feast... this is massive!
This one has Summer written all over it... absolutely awesome tune!

Mix Monday #12
Took me a while to get together the mixes this week... spent far too long in bed on Sunday. Went to Matter on Saturday night, got dragged along to some Skins party, didn't know what to expect, but tickets were £3, Voddy Redbulls were £2.50 and Zinc was playing.... so who can refuse that... especially when he finished his set with 20 minutes of solid Jungle vibes... win much!
Anyway onto this weeks golden nuggets... and a lot of hot exclusives from Nic Sarno here with new cuts from Jack Beats (actually awesome), AC Slater, Sam Tiba (you need to check this tune out), Myd and Nic himself. Just under an hour of tropical bass and rainforest beats for all the family. That Jack Beats tune is madness.
Douster - Punani ft. Spoek Mathambo (Dub Version)
Funkin Matt - Zee!
Act Yo Age - Song For Nona (Savage Skulls Rmx)
Kid Kayo - Too Saxy
Myd - Rwall
Sam Tiba - Barbie Weed
Jack Beats - Revolution
Crookers - Cooler Couleur ft. Yelle (AC Slater Rmx)
Switch - A Bit Patchy (Alvaro's A Bit Latin Mix)
Boris Dlugosch - Bangkok (Roska Rmx)
The Bulgarian - Midnight Light (Kink Ghetto Mix)
Tom Piper/Ryan Riback - ? (Jackinori & The Dutch Radder Rmx)
Jesse Rose - Non Stop (Dub Mix)
Savage Skulls & Douster - Bad Gal (Phra Rmx)
Crookers - We Love Animals ft. Soulwax & Mixhell (Nic Sarno Rmx)
Vandalism - Throw Your Hands Up (Angger Dimas Rmx)
Partysquad - Pull Up
Partysquad - Crazy Funky Style
French Fries - Predador (Tomb Crew Rmx)
Next up is Supra1... we're massive fans of everything Supra1 have done in the past, and their new direction has been a very pleasent addition to my ears. They're remixes of Drop The Lime's Devil's Eyes and Mumdance & Brodinski's Eurostarr have both been top notch. In this latest mix for The Fat! Club you can catch Brackles' take on their latest offering titled I Still Believe.
Egyptrixx - Phones
Dva - Ganja
Zinc - Wile Out ft. Ms Dynamite
Brackles & Shortstuff - Pipey D
Brodinski & Mumdance - Eurostarr (Supra1 Remix)
Supra1 - I Still Believe (Brackles Remix)
Rude Kid - Jack Daniels
Killa P - Police Ar Come
Terror Danjah & Dok - Code Morse
Breakage - Hard ft. Newham Generals & David Rodigan
Kamikaze - Ghetto Kyote
Desto - Cold VIP
Numan - Code Four
James Blake - Air & Lack Thereof
To finish off here's something more along the chilled route, a new mix from one of my favourite producers out there, Bomb The Bass known to many as Tim Simenon. If you're not familiar with this producer, then I suggest you stick your head inside a Piñata, so we can all take pops at you. Bomb The Bass came to light back in 1987 with his No. 2 hit Beat Dis... helping to almost single handedly usher in DJ culture over night and was responsible for on of the most iconic images in clubland... The Yellow Smiley Face. Yes, pretty damn big. I was lucky enough to be given the honour of reviewing his last album Future Chaos a couple of years ago, and it's good to see him at work again so soon, and promoting his latest release, Back To Light, his new 10 track LP, produced in conjunction with Gui Boratto. An interesting pairing none the less, and since I've not reviewed an album for quite a while, expect one on Bomb The Bass in the next week or so, it's been long overdue on this blog. You can also grab a FREE mp3 from the album if you head over the album's official site... HERE.

Mix Monday #7: Jack Beats
Morning all... got something slightly different for you this week, not just a barrage of mixes, and you've probably heard about the Essential Mix that Beni and Naill did at the weekend for Radio 1, but instead of just posting that mix up, like everyone one else has been non stop in the last 48 hours, we've got an exclusive treat for you. Now I've had this for a wee while now, but have been waiting for the perfect moment to use it and make this post all worthwhile. Here you go...
An exclusive Squeaky Bleeps interview with the one and only Jack Beats.
I caught up with Beni at the country's BIGGEST 16+ phenomenon known as Under The Radar, at their Xmas bash at London's Ministry of Sound, when I was lucky enough to play in the same room as Beni on the night. First comes the interview, followed by the review video of the night which is very kindly uploaded by Under The Radar every 6 weeks or so to their YouTube page.
First off, congratulations on a huge year for You…I remember hearing your remix of Jack Got Jacked back in October 08' and thinking, these are going to be huge, but even I've been surprised by how quickly it's all happened, getting signed to Cheap Thrills as well has been massive for you, how have you found 2009?
If there are any 16/17 year olds that do read this blog, then I honestly suggest you get in the know with Under The Radar, there is no other company putting on nights in the entire UK that even come close to matching it's pedigree! UTR facebook fan page, here! Get in the know!
Now, back to Jack Beats and their amazing Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. A lot has been said about Jack Beats in the past, but I think to truly understand their sound you really have to take into consideration a number of factors.
They seem to be able to fuse together the essence of that 'old skool' sound in with an almost uplifting rave sound, which is very prevalent in the first 3 minutes of this mix and the build up to their remix of This Kiss. The kind of sound you hear in Jonny L's Hurt You So, almost cheesy vocals, but on a kick ass beat, with space like sounding synths.
I think it's great they haven't made a tune with any old skool kind of rave breaks parts, like the breakdowns on Harvard Bass's Caked. They seem to want to bring back what was great about rave in their younger years, but put their own stamp on things, without overcomplicating things, which a lot of people these days seem to forget, churning out remix after meaningless remix. In about 10 years, when hopefully I'll still be DJ'ing, some of their tracks, especially Little Secrets, Jack Got Jacked, Drop The Pressure, Get Off, U.F.O and most definitely Labyrinth will stand out as right little gems.
Labyrinth is probably their closest thing to something unique that no one can close to musically. Yeah it's got a wobbly bassline, but I don't think it would work any other way, and just because it has one doesn't mean that the idea has been ruined. It's like a timestamp of 2009 for me that tune. Last summer people were fusing together house and dubstep and some were already getting fed up of it, moving onto more tech-house and the bass scenes, but I think Labyrinth is probably the last thing that comes close to what that true sound represented.
As for their percussion, that's just on another level, the drums in their remix of Mars are tight as fuck!
Anyway rant over, that's what I think Jack Beats are all about anyway. It was a lot deeper than just sticking a dubstep wobble on a house beat. Their album will surprise a lot of people I think. Sonically, anyway, but first download this Essential Mix. Tight and golden.

Thanks! It’s been great. Super busy, lots of remixes, loads of gigs, which is always nice. Yeah, 2009 has just been nuts for Jack Beats. What's been the most memorable gig?
The most memorable gig? ahhh! you know what, there’s been so many, I’ve been up and down the country, all over Europe, and quite literally the globe. It’s quite hard to pin-point one particular gig. I couple of festivals I guess have been a highlight I guess. And Damn, these Under The Radar gigs are always pretty hot, these kids are just nuts!I’ve been quite impressed over say the last six months, you’ve kind of tried to let go of the old fidget scene, and matured as a duo. You’re remixes of Drumming Song and Little Secrets kind of venture into different areas. Kind of a deeper house almost Jungle bassline, is that a path you were maybe looking to venture into?
You know I think some people think that we’re just out and out party bangers and kinda you know, rinse out, which we can do, and we can do really well. But, I mean, we’ve been in music for about 15 years now, and the deeper kind of style has always been something we’ve wanted to do in certain ways. To start off with we just wanted to do club bangers, but I think we want to throw lots of different things into the mix as the next year kind of rolls out. The deeper stuff and the more melodic stuff, I guess. What are your plans for the album launch next year that we’ve heard about?
Well, I guess it’s a work in progress at the moment. We’re writing at the moment, and just hoping to see what comes out of it?Do you see it as say the next logical step for Jack Beats?
Yeah, yeah of course, I mean of course some people want to get the chance to do a full studio album, and that’s something we’re working towards. Basically, see where we at sort if mid next year, and see where things go from there.Just please don’t take as long as Crookers though, yeah?
Haha, no, I think we’ll definitely try and keep it so that it comes around as soon as it can really.Awesome. Now lastly, there’s a remix of Super Sharp Shooter, sort of floating about, what’s the score with that?
Yeah! Well, Zinc asked us to do it, must be a good 18 months ago now, and it’s unfinished as it is, I just kind of use it in DJ sets really. Everyone’s asking about it, but I spose we’ll get around to finishing it, at some point you know. Please release it!!!
Ha, maybe, maybe!Anyway, thanks very much, and good luck for the future.
Safe, bigup!

After a big weekend that saw probably the biggest gig of my life in the main room of London 16+ night Mashed up @ Club Colosseum (capacity 1500). I closed the main room on the night, which is home to a 20kw EAW system. As you can imagine I had a lot of fun with that ;).
As you may have noticed a few minor changes have taken place on the blog, with the site becoming somewhat wider, this being due to my limited knowledge of HTML having expanded somewhat.
I think it's given the site a fresh new look, and means we can have bigger pictures on the site... hooray! Now, a big new week ahead, culminating in my first trip to Fabric since the end of July, so here's to that! To the !!!TTTTTUUUUUNNNNNEEEEESSSSS!!!

Gucci Vump - Sha! Shtil! (L-Vis 1990 VIP Remix)
Now this is a remix that I've been wanting to get my hands on for some time. Ever since I heard that L-Vis had made a second remix of this fantastic tune. The first of the remixes has been available for a little while now, receiving some love from the one and only Annie Mac, but this second one is a perfect example of L-Vis more soulful sound that I have grown to love.
Axwell - I Found You (Remode Mix)
An anthem of fairly old statue, but this is making a big comeback in my sets with all this tropical and bleepy house and techno being so prevalent in the past year. An absolute classic with one of the biggest drops that I know. If you don't already own this, you really are a school boy.
Drop The Lime - Set Me Free (Zombie Disco Squad Remix)
Along with Harvard Bass' attempt, one of the better remixes of the original EP that is set to drop on Trouble & Bass digitally tomorrow, this remix is one of those, "for the morning after..." kind of vibes, with percussion to stamp your feet for. Big remix.
Trip - Who's That (Jack Beats Remix)
This is one of the earliest remixes from the biggest duo of the year and after being slightly disappointed at there being no extremely new material from JB (tbh they deserve a break actually), I went back to the old stuff and this is the pick of the bunch. Such a jokes banger.
Will Bailey - Hit The Club (Hot Mouth Remix)
Definitely one of my favourite tracks of the year in Hit The Club... it was nice to see Will break away from the stagnent wobble scene and venture into making something more accessible for the masses, and this is a great re-work from a rising new talent out of Los Angeles.

Some big news ahead this week in the blogosphere... Ben has returned to the UK! He's currently sorting his life (email inbox) out, but shall be writing posts here again very soon! Also Noiseporn finally completed their mammoth journey to Mongolia raising money for charity.
From their tweeting homeland: "arrived in Mongolia after 47 days on the road raising money for @savethechildren and listening to @mixtapemarathon. it's been mad!!!!!!!!!!!"
A very very very big congratulations to them!
On with the tunage...
I thought with it being Carnival this Notting Hill bank holiday weekend, and with there being a very special shank-up with Major Lazer in town this afternoon... some Samba was much needed
I've been a fan of Bonde Do Role ever since I bought a mad stash of promo's off ebay a few years back, in which Gasolina. Many happy times ensued. This is their first crack at the South American instiution in music. Many Kudos Kudos Kudos to them. It has brightened up my Sunday morning recovering from Eastern Electrics, which way the way was banging!
After a hugely impressive jackin' remix of Pon De Floor comes this slice of booty bass action from Sheffield based Skullduggery, who can do no wrong in my eyes. Opting to not tackle the mammoth task of altering the K-Hole Bass Riddim (and rightly so, leave that mother well alone), Skullduggery have decided on playing with the signature ravey theme sequence, which I heard yesterday all the way from Creamfields... even though I was actually in the kitchen as Pizza Hut in Dartford... got to love your mates ey, they know when to make you feel great! Anyway, download this immediately, purely makes you smile from ear to ear :)!
Little bit of funky disco here from our main man Alan Hostage, who is simply of fire at the moment, I envy his work ethic tremendously. Seems like there's a new track or remix weekly from the Scot.
Keeping things rather fresh a well with a tasty ravey breakdown and juicy lead synths off the back of a class funky beat. There's a whole host a new material from the man at the moment so I really urge you to check out his MySpace.
Clearly one of the tunes of the moment right now... Crookers here on the remix and a weird combination. The signature 2009 ravey electro sound, but on top of a generic housey beat, which kind of makes it sound really flat until the drop. Big ups to Electric Zoo for the upload.
Big tune... play it... learn to like it... play it... love it... play it some more... get sweaty for it!
The Raged - Home Experiment [SqueakyBleeps Hot New Tune]
An absolute techno monster here from The Raged, who I introduced you to last week with his superb remix of The Arctic Monkeys.
With support from Richie Hawtin and Joe & Will Ask? I could really see this track should going places if it's picked up by the right people. I thinking Hannah Holland, Meat Katie and Evil Nine would love this kind of track. Shit is banging, and I don't often say this about techno, but hear and feel that bass! I'm playing with DeepGroove in October so I'll definitely be introducing this tune to them... hats off to you dude! Home Experiment... more like Military Secret.

Who's on the rave this weekend! Yeh BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
I really need to think about posting an entry on this blog when I'm not drunk, however, you dudes need some rave in your lives and I am here to sort you out before the week is truly upon us! Let's get ready to skank!
Now I enlightened you with this absolute banger of a track just a few days ago, but there have been some serious developments since then. Mr. Dirty D himself was very kind to comment on the post in which his directed us all to a 320k version of the track, which has subsequently gone on to be broadcast for the very first time on the airwaves, on Kissy Sell Out's Radio 1 show last week.
Taking the best parts of each track, D, has managed to keep things fresh whilst still keeping the party going with this brilliant mash-up. Get onto this asap!
When I heard that a Dubstep remix of this track existed, I literally started foaming at the mouth with excitement and rightly so! Serious Dubstep remix of Proxy's huge tune from last year... Caspa's been rinsing this recently, and rightly so, its an absolute barnstormer of a tune.
Probably one of the most creative basslines I've heard all year, download link available from the page.
Currently getting played to death by everyone whos anyone right now.
There seems to have been a huge surge in tunes of late with this sort of sound... I'm thinking Pon De Floor and Knuckles huge remix of Blake as definiate similarities. Almost wobbled basslines with a huge ravey emphasis on high pitched whines. Kind of like a fox yelping, but without the annoyingness of it. If that makes any sense to you whatsoever. Also check out this guys MySpace... some seriously sick material from such a young producer!
I was directed to this through the wonderous Erol Alkan forum, from a very nice chap indeed!
He's quite new to producing but everything I've heard from him so far via the forum has really impressed me, and this is a perfect example of his unique sound. Probably one of the best remixes of Mars that I've heard, can't wait to play out that bassline :D
Rusko's bass thumping monster of a glitchy dub remix was finally let loose via download services today, with a 12" release coming along with Sub Focus' DnB take on August 31st. Please head over to Rusko's Beatport page and support him in the best way possible! His newest tune Rock Bottom with Caspa was also released last week :D

Unidentified Frequency Oscillation
Well it's finally been announced... probably the most anticipated single/EP release of the year so far for me as far as rave music goes for. Over the past year or so, I've grown to absolutely love Jack Beats, but everytime I try and see them DJ, something happens and my plans end up being quashed. The most recent one to date was Spectrum @ Matter, the Friday just gone, where Matter cancelled NAPT & Jack Beats, along with Myles Dyson, who were scheduled to play in room 2, because they weren't sure on the turnout. Anoying yes!
Anyway... Jack Beats first ever EP is to be released on Cheap Thrills on July 20th, named UFO or Unidentified Frequency Oscillation (K-Hole Bass Riddim as I found out earlier this week, which will be the title track. There is also a VIP Mix of their tune Get Down, which was previously only available as a rough original mix from the unmixed version of Herve's Ghetto Bass 2CD compilation album, and then a third track titled Labyrinth, which Kissy Sell Out played on Radio 1 on Thursday night.
I must also point out that Kissy did a wonderful job that night despite the news of MJ coming through the news waves. Despite being a DJ/Producer and Radio DJ, as a Radio Journalist myself I was very impressed with the way he handled the situation and his handover to Newsbeat. Well done sir, even if you did sound very emotional delivering the news to all of us. You're tribute to him featuring Man in the Mirror was felt by many!
Anyway, here is details of the UFO EP which you can find from this link!
Please get on it and support the amazing work the pair have been doing over the past couple of years, they truly deserve some praise in my opinion!

The Bleeps Week #3
This week I've got some real treats for you, and some huge bangers that have been making a lot of noise on the rave circuit of late, partly due to their disgusting sounds, but mainly because they fuck with your head!
Yet to drop on Diplo's Mad Decent label, I heard this a few weeks ago but was a bit undecided on whether it would do justice on a louder system. I was truly proved wrong at the Bugged Out! london party at the weekend, when I heard the tune played at least twice. The only way to describe how this tune feels would be to cover your head in blood and jump into a swimming pool of baby great white sharks. It's one of those sounds that is too disgusting to be real. I bum it!
First premiered on Radio 1 a few months ago, this is another remix that I was undecided on until I heard it on a big system, the first being the same night as the Jack Beats remix above. Its a return to the Crookers I fell in love with in their remixes of The Whip's Trash and Chemical Brothers' Salmon Dance. Purely good bouncing dancefloor fun, which has surely to send the duo to new heights!
Not an entirely new tune, its been around for a few months, but its the power of it when placed with the right tunes that can transform that good set into something special. This edit's more techy synths add to the already minimal feel, which take you on a real sensual Journey.
I may have just pinched this from the Noiseporn dudes, but I really could not resist. It's not typical Noisia as this is a bit more Housey than their previous DnB and Dubstep work, but it's really caught my eye as something oddly melodic, including samples from Justice's D.A.N.C.E.; I can't really say anything more than, what a banger!
Finally after months of waiting we are finally being treated to new Boys Noize material, which has been premiered in his DJ sets over the past couple of months. Starter is due to be released on his label on June 22nd with Jeffer on the B-Side, and the new album is aparently due to follow at the end of the year. I tell you, this tune is fucking unreal! It makes Justice and Daft Punk look like their still in kindergarden.

The Bleeps Week #1
Morning all... Another day, another post... and it's now officially THE WEEKEND!
Following on from last week's first Squeaks post... here's the first Bleeps post, aimed it focusing on five tunes that would typically be heard @ Fabric on a Friday night... down and dirty Electro, Breaks, Dubstep, DnB, and everything in between. Let's get to it!
This has been invading blogs over the past few weeks like a blood thirsty army on a crusade!
Just listen to that bassline... Jack Beats have done it again... I was never sure about the original... the breakdown just wasn't fitting for the drop, but this is booming insane, can't get enough of it!!! Be sure to catch them over the next month, they're playing @ Always Fridays @ The Egg tonight, and Matter on the 24th with Armand Van Helden, as well as a string of other dates over May and June in the UK.
Ok, ok, so this is old... but I needed to break it out of the 2008 closet and set it on fire once again... nothing gets me in the mood for a night out more than to hear those those bleeping leads and pulsating wobbly bassline. The purest tech-house banger out there, mashed up and given a whole new leash of life... if any of you (shame on you) have never heard this version before, then get right on it!
Here's a new one from the guys over at Noiseporn, possibly the best blog on the net!
I've only listened to this a few times since it was posted, but one thing that had an immediate impression on me was the kick drums, they are tonk! I could see this being played at an electro/breaksy night as well as at end of a Sci/Techy night. It reminds me of Shake It Down, just without that ridiculous synth. Honestly, this remix is the shit! Roll forward the techno revolution!
I've always had a bit of a thing for Myagi, and when his remix of TCM's High Roller was included in their 10th anniversary release of their debut album 'Vegas', I was officially in love with his sound. He's somewhere in between Dylan Rhymes, Elite Force, Plump DJs and Orbital all at the same time. Poising his breaks sound on techy beats and beautifully layered synths, and his basslines never fail to impress! This tune is no exception. Although the break is a simple one... its all about the synths on this one... especially the one you hear within the first 5 seconds.... tasty tasty!!!!!
Finally, possibly one of the most recognisable Dubstep bangers out there given a pure love or hate make-over by Prime Cuts. Personally I diggit, and the sampling of Jack Beats' What just gives it that extra sickening edge... "You fackin' prat!"... ahhhhh this is getting so abused when I next play!

Bangers & Mash Week 1
Here's another new post series that we'll be running every Monday morning... a short mix of five tunes from an artist that we feel are going to have a big impact during this year.

First up is Jack Beats... whose contagious beats and hypnotic basslines have been tearing up clubs across the country in the past 12 months. They're a duo from London consisting of Beni G formally of The Mixologists and Plus One, who we all know and love as one of the three Scratch Perverts dudes.

First up is Jack Beats... whose contagious beats and hypnotic basslines have been tearing up clubs across the country in the past 12 months. They're a duo from London consisting of Beni G formally of The Mixologists and Plus One, who we all know and love as one of the three Scratch Perverts dudes.
Up until this year they'd only been putting out remixes, most notably their remix of AC Slater's Jack Got Jacked, Project Bassline's Drop The Pressure and their huge re-work of Caspa's remix of TC's Where's My Money (wow that's a tongue twister) that sent the clubbing scene into overdrive.
It wasn't until January that their first official release 'What' featuring MC Dynamite surfaced on Herve's Cheap Thrills label and Get Down also followed suit, featuring on Herve's 2CD mix compilation Ghetto Bass.
What's got possibly everyone savvy in the electronic music scene all over the world rather wet downstairs... clubbers, promoters and DJs alike right now is their up and coming release, a full EP on Cheap Thrills set for early summer. The source of all the commotion is locked inside a sub-10 second sample of the aptly named K-Hole, which slyly made it's way into their MiniMix for Annie Mac's Radio1 show on April 13th. I literally have no words to describe the sound... so far this is the closest I"ve got (which is what I yelled out when I first heard it): "OMFG... that is the sickest thing I have ever F***KING HEARD!". I literally can only dream about what it must sound like in Fabric's Room 1.
I've nicked the K-Hole part of their MiniMix as it's very tasty placed into the next tune... Bang it out in your car... or on your iPod on the way to work/uni or school to kill some time!

Thrilling

Thrills has really been getting a lot of attention recently - and it's definitely deserved - Kissy Sell Out played his refix/mashup of Chromeo and Skream recently on his Radio 1 show, and I've been playing it pretty much everytime I play out since I got it, and with great results. Thrills has done a whole series of dubstep refixes, all absolute bangers; he manages to give some of the biggest dubstep tracks out there a 4x4 workover.
His tracks have been getting support from a lot of heads, both stateside and in Europe: DJ Yoda, Drop the Lime, Mickey Slim, DZ and Nero. Another one of his dubstep refixes that got a lot of plays from me recently has to be his refix of the Jack Beats mix of Jack Got Jacked - AC Slater. Thrills draws out that ravey breakdown, speeds it up, and then it drops to that classic bassline, but with a slightly different bassline this time.
We've yet to hear any original material from Thrills, but I've no doubt that when we do it will be absolutely killer! In the meantime, his DJing is as good as his producing, so check out his dubstep mix:

Back to reality...

Morning all, thought I'd check in to la-blog and give you all an update on what I think is kickin' it at the moment. I've finally managed to fully recover (I think) from a hectic week consisting of a lads piss up and girl hunting holiday in Magaluf, 6 solid days and nights of drinking, clubbing and full on raving. I also managed to lose my laptop charger, my iPod and my phone, as well as almost missing my planned flight home on Friday morning because a very inadequate hotel staff including one very unhelpful cunt, almost managed to lose my passport. Which, in turn made me miss my shuttle bus to the airport and I ended up turning up to the boarding gate, ten minutes before take off! Luckily, I got on board and made it home to get ready for the best night out in London that can only be Fabriclive, which featured an amazing night with The Chemical Brothers, A-Trak, Scratch Pervets, Riton and the very esteemed company of Green Money DJs, who Ben featured last week. This was then followed by Saturday night and all day Sunday working. Oh... Joy-To-The-World. Having said that though, it was however, one hell of a week to remember for the rest of my life, for many reasons, if you care to read the Magaluf part, very carefully ;).
Anyway, ranting over, lets get down to business!
Firstly, I'm really diggin' TADT (The American Dream Team) at the moment. They're fourth mixtape in their experimental series has recently been dropped and is available via their MySpace, but its their recent remix of Herve's project 'Machines Don't Care' that defines their sound. Lots of bass, loss of wibble, but also they possess a real nack for a good breakdown, and the vocals in the builds work really well together. As well as having the sickest bassline I've heard in a while. Turn this up very loud!
Machines Don't Care - Drop It To The Floor (TADT Baby Pop Remix)
Jack Beats is one duo that is set for a huge 2009, and they've just been confirmed to play Creamfields 2009, which don't happen just like that!
They're probably most well known for their Jack Got Jacked remix and their re-edit of the enigmatic remix of Where's My Money by Caspa, however, they're newest remix of Kidda's 'Feel Too Good' is another I've been feeling lately, and it works so well mixed into the TADT remix up there ^^^. It sees the duo taking on a more commercial kind of stance, after 'What' & 'Get Down', but its none the less a sure floor-filler.
Kidda - Feel Too Good (Jack Beats Remix)
One of the hottest dudes on the planet right now has clearly got to be Beardyman. The man was on the recieving end recently of a Breakspoll award for Best MC/Vocalist, which was as a result of his recent work with A-Skillz. However, we all know him best for his ridiculous talent with a Microphone and the holy Kaoss Pad. Annie Mac has clearly picked up on this hugely original style, and has found it fitting to present the world with the world's first Minimix that contains absolutely no electornically produced sounds or music, whatsoever. Everything within this minimix, was created solely by his mouth, then cut up, looped and FX'd to the max. This truely is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard. His imitation of deadmau5's 'The Reward is Cheese' absolutely blows my mind.
Beardyman - Radio1 Minimix (03/04/09)
Tracklisting:
Scatman John- 'Scatman'
Run DMC vs Jason Nevins- 'It's like that'
Deadmau5- 'The reward is cheese'
Aphex Twin- 'Windowlicker'
Leftfield- 'Phat Planet'
Unknown- '50,000 watts'
David Bowie- 'Let's Dance'
Chase & Status- 'Eastern Jam'
Radiohead- 'The National Anthem'
Pharcyde- 'Passing Me Bye'
Jay-Z-'99 Problems'
Dizzee Rascal- 'Fix up Look Sharp'
Chase & status vs. capleton- 'Duppy Man'
One of my firm favourites for 2009 is Hostage, who had a storming end to 2008 with some amazing remixes that included Acen's 'Trip II The Moon', The Streets' 'Let's Push Things Forward' and his original works 'Shake It','Ain't No Man' and 'The Slave'.
He's recently smacked it with a few new tunes to wet our appetites, including the rather tasty 'Murder Rocket', which Ben graced you with recently. However his remix of La Roux's 'In For The Kill'. It's nice to see a fresh take on the tune after Skream's mammoth rave tune. Mr. Hostage has also just let out his newest monster mix, which also includes his new remix of The Prodigy.
The Prodigy - Take Me To The Hospital (Hostage Remix)
Hostage - Concrete Mix
Tracklisting:
The Temper Trap - 'Science Of Fear (Herve Remix)'
Rico Tubbs - 'Lumberjack (Calvetron Remix)'
AC Slater - 'No Party For Old Men'
Bit Thief - 'Tidal Rave'
HeavyFeet - 'Killa'
The Prodigy - 'Take Me To The Hospital (Hostage Remix)'
Foamo - 'Wardance'
Milner - 'Freak Nasty'
Blackfinger - 'UMF (Supra1 Remix)'
Hostage - 'Murder Rocket'
Gtronic - 'Iron Man'
Jack Beats - 'What (Foamo Remix)'
La Roux - 'In For The Kill (Hostage Remix)'
To finish off, I thought I'd enlighten you with a little tune of my own... I've not gotten into hardcore producing yet, but I recently did a little mashup edit of Hervé's Re-Fix of Mars, which cuts in and out of the original, with a few tasty reverb's and with the original vocal sample that Hervé included in his version... Enjoy people!
Fake Blood - Mars (The Hervé Re-Fix with a Glitch-y make-over)
Hopefully, some other mixes from the other writers yet to join the crew, should be up and on board during this week, until next time... Adios
