Booty Call Records!

One of my favourite nights (insert Jeremy Clarkson voice-ocer) "In The Whole World", has just released their first EP. News, which has even caused hype from none other than former Arsenal legend (all bow to god himself) Thierry Henry, stating that all should "Put Your Hands Up". The credibility of that remark is somewhat hard for my brain to believe it may seem though.

Anyway, its been released at the following links from download sites Juno, iTunes, DJ Download, Trackitdown this week and features four tracks from Marvy Da Pimp, Kaptain Cadillac, DJ Kezmo aka Dirty K and Freeze DBH.

Justice - Let There Be Light (DJ Funk Remix)

If you've never heard of Booty Call Records or the night that they have run at The Social Club in Paris for the past few years then you really are missing out on an institution in electro, baltimore club, and bass crunkin booty crunching clubbing. Probably the most famous tune to be associated with the scene is DJ Funk's remix of Justice's Let There Be Light. If you have not heard this before, you don't deserve to be living, but I'll let it slide and instead suggest you get on it straight away.

Hope you all had a great weekend, I ended up spending one night back home in Dartford testing out my mate Robs' new floorstanding speakers, and fooooook was it just a weeeee bit fun hehe. Then the second, Halloween, was spent with the same people in Reading as my mate Mike was DJ'ing at a wee student halls party. Apple bobbing and drinks games aplenty... tittt was guuud, if you catch my drift ;)!
Some really big tunes coming out at the moment with Proxy and Jack Beats releasing new music, but here's a few free tunes including a banger from Crookers! peace. 320k a-plenty!


Congorock & Crookers - Sbombers
After a year of hate and banter at the expense of the Crookers... I am glad to say they are definitely back and with one hell of an almighty bang! I've been a fan of Congorock as well for some time and its a real pleasure to see them collaborating on a release that is 100% legitimately FREE! This shit be bannnging blud!


Black Eyed Peas - I Got A Feelin (Nick Sandoval's Dont Forget The Bass Re-Fix)
Yes, yes I know it's the bloody Black Eyed Peas, but DJ veteran Nick has done a really superb job here giving it a some new funk and a new edge. Bigups and expect a feature on this guy! coming later in the week!


Cavner - Springbok
A great new track here from my main man Cavner, also known as Dan Pitts, who I introduced to you a couple of months ago. He's been hard on the production lately and I think this is the pick of the bunch! Bounce and style in abundance.


Pyramid - Get Down
Hot, free release from the one and only Pyramid here who I've been a big fan of since their inception last year when they made big noise with their debut 12" Wickedest Combination/The System was released on the mighty Funkatech Records. Lots and lots of bass and a fine hook to keep you kids quiet for almost eight minutes.


Major Lazer - Hold The Line (dMon Remix)
Probably the 5000th remix of ML, but this one I'm really digging. Everything this guy churns out always makes me smile and this is absolutely no exception. Please get your mitts onto it!

Rise and shine... another day, another week, a new start?

I can safely say I've had an awesome weekend, having played my first London gig and seen my favourite DJs live for the first time... my mood can kind of be summed up if I was to type holy sheet five billion times, but I will leave that analysis of expression up to you. To the tunage!!!

Arctic Monkeys - Dangerous Animals (The Raged Remix)

So finally, after over a two year wait for some new material we've finally had the third coming of the Northern Primates let onto us. This is a great glitchy housey/techy remix from a member of the Erol forum massive who has been gracious enough to urge everyone to blog about it. Seeing as this is a very good day for British music, I thought this tune was very necessary!

Major Lazer - Pon De Floor (Skulldugger Herf Remix)

A really clever re-work here from the sheffield based lads, which they sent over to me yesterday. Hints of HiJack and Will Bailey for me, but keeping things have been kept fun and not too overbearing. It's a slight edit of the original remix, which sounds exactly the same until the middle when all hell breaks loose into downright jackin' lunacy. I love tracks like this, they don't take the music too seriously and aim to smash the fuck out of any dancefloor at the same time. I banged this out up London last week to devastating effect!

The Cheerz - R U Ready

Now this track first came to my attention via Mr. K Sellout a few weeks back on his Rhaaadio 1 show, and upon enquiring about the tune from The Cheerz I was told it will be getting a full release as part of their new EP The Birth. It's soon to drop on .... and I'll give you a heads up when its released so you can a cheeky 320 sometime soon! Feel that bassline though... it kind of reminds me of the last time I ate a chilli pepper, my mouth was on fire and I managed to tip a 2 litre bottle of coke down myself while insanely fucked one night back at a mates house last year. If its good enough for Kissy, its definitely good enough for me!

Benjamin Leung & Dom - Sub Zero (Nathan C Remix)

Yet another fine remix from a UK Techno producer literally blowing up at the moment. You might remember I let onto you his exclusive remix of his own take on the classic tune The Trouble With Me by Black Legend. This one is a more stripped down affair, but nevertheless a good listen and solid remix.

Highbloo - 50cl [SqueakyBleeps Hot New Tune]

Finally... saving the best for last here with up and coming producer Highbloo. I came across this dude's myspace yesterday, and via a marvelous stroke of luck (at the same time) he ended up getting in touch with me and lacing a 320 of his killer tune 50cl over to my person.

Much respect to this 19 year old producer from Belgium, after only a year of producing tunes, he's managed to come up with this banger. It really captures the whole essence of the electro scene change this year from a jackin' sound to a more ravey techno based sound. Think Renaissance Man, Riva Starr, Jesse Rose, Mowgli and Boy 8-Bit's new Baltic Pine EP. Any record producers out there check out his MySpace and SIGN UP our man... killa tunes!

Now... I'm not sure when a new post is going to get to you at the current time... I'm uploading this blog outside a fucking Starbucks on my wireless, because some dick in the South East of England decided it would be a fucking great idea to cut through an underground electrical cable on a Monday morning... and EDF Energy has warned that it may take them up to 48 hours to fix the problem, leaving the entire of North Kent without any fucking power. Anyway, rant over!

Major Lazer - Pon De Floor (R!M!E Remix)
Got an absolute treat for you here in the shape of Sydney based Producer/DJ R!M!E. For those of you with a perfect memory, you'll remember we blogged about him in our very first artist feature at SB. It's always nice when an artist remembers the little things, and as a small appreciation for our support in the past he's be nice enough to hook us up with his newest remix of Switch & Diplo's latest banger, which has been tearing up the clubs in the past couple of months.
This makeover has his unquestionable touch in places, a stripped down, cut up fucked up boomshine of a banger! If you're a DJ, this mix will certainly add that little bit of diversity in your sets, cutting in and out of the original for example. Also please headover to his MySpace and check out three other new tunes... Journey and Gangsta are right up my street!

Santigold - L.E.S Artistes (Zodiac Cartel Remix)
Next up is Zodiac Cartel and his new remix of Santigold's L.E.S Artistes, which was a huge favourite of mine from the festival season last summer. The remix is the second in a 6 part series of free 320k downloads aptly titled Weapons of Choice. The Zod himself has assured me that it was worth it's weight in gold and I wasn't disappointed upon hearing it. The luscious vocals have been given an electro-house make-over accompanied by a delicious array of acid'y synths and sweeping white's. My personal favourite sound is a laser-ish stab that swims below the bassline, swinging to the beat and dancing on top of the sweeps. A fine attempt!

Calvin Harris - Ready For The Weekend (Fake Blood Remix)
The one man production super machine seems to be turning everything he touches into hot, sticky, red, rave-ridden blood. I've heard that he's finished a few new tracks for his next EP, which I hope will drop sometime this year, his DJ schedule so far this year has been ridiculous, but he deserves it! I just hope that new EP drops soon! Can't beat this remix for pure genius production though... "lick the Fake Blood from your finger" ;).

MSTRKRFT ft. John Legend - Heartbreaker (Laidback Luke Remix)
Laidback Luke seems to be on fire at the moment. A dazzling 2008 saw him release one of the biggest underground club tunes of the year in Shake It Down and unquestionably one of the biggest commercial club tunes of the year in Be, which cultimated in a re-release of the classic Show Me Love with Angello. Then along with remixes of Delirious, Dooms Night, Get Get Down, Fancy Footwork and my personal favourite of Surkin's timeless banger White Knight Two he continued to prove what a world class producer he is and this is definitely no exception that will surely propell help propell him into the super league of DJs.

Joris Voorn - Sweep The Floor
Going from strength to strength at the present time, the Dutch techno mystro fresh from his Balance 014 masterpiece drops this absolute bomb of a funky techno track. The vocals are so cut clean fresh, they make Umbongo look like a packed of ready salted crisps, tesco value crisps... and I apologise for that outburst of NME vocabulary. Get onto this sharpish though and as ever, please support the artists!

The Freestylers vs. Eric Prydz - Pjanoo (Breaks Mix)
Here's kind of exclusive (that was dug up for me for a DJ friend by a very kind man on the Erol forum), in the form that it was never released as a digital download. This is a Vinyl rip and possibly the only mp3 version in the blogsphere. The original vinyl pressing is a white label, which actually bears the name 'Unknown Artist vs. Eric Prydz'. However, my own knowledge told me this was definitely Freestylers mix that came about around September last year of possibly the biggest big room club tune of 2008. Enjoy :).

1: Major Lazer - Hold The Line (DZ Remix)

Some seriously crunkin' wobble action here that twists and turns into absolute dancefloor carnage, taking Santi's collab one stage closer to crowning Major Lazer as surely the act of the year. I just need to get me some 320 Pon De Floor action in my life. It lacks some deeply!

2: Renaissance Man - What is Guru (Riva Starr Remix)

Well RM's tech-house banger Spraycan may be currently destroying clubs the world over right now, but his newly released tune has been given a much needed make over from techno's ghetto boy Riva Starr. There's one minute sound on this tune I absolutely bum, it sounds like an elastic bang being pinged against something, put with the cut out vocals is makes for a really fresh new sound.

3. Zombie Nation - Shottieville (Proxy Remix) [96k]

Apologies on the low qualityness of this, but I doubt anyone has this is in anything above 96k at the moment. I will say this though, having heard it out on a big system a couple of weeks ago I can honestly say, what a rootin' tootin' ridiculous tune! This is going to be big!

4. Crookers - Knobbers (Luckism Edit: Apple Fritter's Vocal Smash) [128]

Here is a little remix/edit from a dude who calls himself Luckism who has sent us over something really special that we want to share with you tomorrow. I've given it a wee Beastie Boys vocal on the drop first and some pans to give it a little edge, a better more polished version in 320 shall be on the way to you next week ;).

5. Brokie & Ed Solo - System Check [128]

Finally here's a simply amazing Drum and Bass tune that I've been a huge fan of in the past few years. It's only been made available on Vinyl on Diluted Recordings, and I've only been able to gain a low quality version in MP3 quality, but seriously get locked onto this!

Possibly the best intro song to a DnB set there is.

Guns Don't Kill People... LAZERS DO BITCH!

As promised to Ben by the man Diplo himself last weekend at the Bugged Out/Mad Decent Soundsystem party (which we have a review of, coming soon), the famed Major Lazer T-Shirts are now available to pre-order via the Mad Decent Store. However, you do need to buy either the CD or 2x Vinyl version of the Major Lazer album to get the t-shirt... damn you Diplo... ;)!

To be honest, I'd happily pay up to £100 for one of those shirts if I had the money!

Major Lazer fever seems to be sweeping the world faster than a deadmau5 iPhone App, and with remixes of Hold The Line and the club banger Pon Di Floor surfacing daily at the moment it's surely going to be the dance record of the summer... unless of course The Count & Sinden or Crookers have anything to say about it.

Weekly News

One of my favourite up and coming techno producers, Darling Farah from the UEA, has got a new track for your ears. Called Darkroom, it's a blend of the minimal feel which a lot of Darling Farah's productions have, and a more maximal approach.

Diplo's new project with Switch, Major Lazer, have finished recording their album - it's a reggae/dancehall album, with a whole load of amazing guest vocalists, and the youtube videos of Major Lazer DJ sets have made me so excited for the album, especially the snippets I've heard of the track Pon Di Floor. Diplo has released the first track of the album for free download on the Mad Decent blog - it's called Hold The Line and has Santigold singing on it. Surf rock guitars and a proper boss drum beat make me even more excited for the rest of the album, as does the leak of other ML track Zumbi that some blogs have posted.

This isn't as such old news, but it's so quality that I had to post it. The boys over at the Pipedown blog recorded a minimix to launch the blog, and I've only recently managed to get it on my Ipod. For 5 minutes long, it's properly chock a block full of tracks - electro, house, drum and bass, jungle, dubstep, garage, hip hop. Hopefully we should have a full feature about the Pipedown crew (SDUK and CNTRST) soon.

Hostage has also had a couple of new tunes this week - Massive, which is a classic 4 to the floor stomper, and has already had radioplay from Annie Mac on her BBC1 show The Mashup, and another tune which is a bit more different from Hostage's usual fare. It's called 8 Bit Boom Riddim, and is a nice bit of more chilled out dubstep action. With a nice chunky bassline, you can tell Hostage has been listening to Joker. Hostage has said he's not going to be producing much stuff like this, so might as well get on this while you can.

Last but not least, it's rare that dance music and charity combine, but our friends over at Noise Porn are doing just that this July. The project is called the Mongolian Mixtape Marathon. The plan is for the Noise Porn team to depart on a 10,000 mile drive from London to Mongolia on July 11th, crossing Europe, central Asia and culminating with a dash across the mighty Gobi Desert. They will be raising money for Save The Children, in association with the Mongolian Charity Rally. The culmination of the drive will be donating educational materials and clothing to to the Mongolian people as well as donating the vehicle to a local farming community.

The dance music aspect of the Marathon is that during the 800+ hours driving time, they're intending to listen to dance music non-stop all the way there! Each DJ will be asked to submit a one hour mix of their favourite tunes and also make a small donation (of at least £1). All the mixes will then be put together and listened to them non-stop, all the way to Mongolia!

DJs confirmed include Krafty Kuts, Brodinski, Ben & Lex, AC Slater, A1 Bassline, Aquasky, NAPT, The Rogue Element, Foamo, Trevor Loveys, Jaimie Fanatic, Miles Dyson and Nick Thayer.

They have already had or confirmed future radio coverage from a number of radio stations including NuSkoolBreaks, Brap.FM, South West Underground, BangingTunes, and Leith FM.

Noise Porn have also secured free advertising on the international clubbing website DontStayIn.com and London clubs/venues like Fabric, The Egg and The Fat! Club have pledged their support.
