The VERY Best of WMC Miami 2010...

Ok so if you're like me... a small time DJ, slightly into production, but your pretty much at the moment, a nobody, then you've probably also been very fed up with hearing about Miami on Twitter, left right and centre all over the past weekend. So rejoice in the best of Miami WMC.

So to celebrate the fact that we are all NOT THERE... let's take a look back at the last four days, with the best pics and quotes from Twitter. Starting with yours truly Erol Alkan... followed by a couple of my favourite.
Erol Alkan: @iamfakeblood just dropped a track which goes 'Riverdance, Motherfucker'. And guess what. It samples Riverdance.

Seb Chew: If you're a dj and you're having a bad one at WMC you should just play @atrak 's remix of yyy's & loop it for an hour. U could do alot worse.

Diplo: All my miami dudes. If u don't sleep with a hot girl from @erolalkan or @anniemacdj s party.. Ur jus pathetic

Toddla T: the minute all the djs come in from the pool the hotel wireless goes slooowwww

Annie Mac: after my 900 pound phone bill after my last US trip... i had to have a word with myself..

Boys Noize: Ok, the first 10 that reply get a free guest list for our Boysnoize Records tonight at Louis !!!

AC Slater: why are @jackbeats wearing Armani watches?

Fake Blood: Having to walk it back from White Room cos of the shit cabs here. Awesome.
Here's Beni from Jack Beats, balls deep in a Mustang him an Naill hired out for a few days in LA before heading to Miami... swine.

By far the best picture I've come across though, comes from none other than the effect wizard James Zabiela, who showed off his record box before Miami, in style.

The best quote though comes from Jack Beats, and pretty much sums up the pointlessness of this post, but bit of fun anyway really.
Jack Beats: For all the peops at home hating on those partying in Miami this week... Good news- the weather is shit today! Beach party FAIL... Haha

Mix Monday #12

Took me a while to get together the mixes this week... spent far too long in bed on Sunday. Went to Matter on Saturday night, got dragged along to some Skins party, didn't know what to expect, but tickets were £3, Voddy Redbulls were £2.50 and Zinc was playing.... so who can refuse that... especially when he finished his set with 20 minutes of solid Jungle vibes... win much!

Anyway onto this weeks golden nuggets... and a lot of hot exclusives from Nic Sarno here with new cuts from Jack Beats (actually awesome), AC Slater, Sam Tiba (you need to check this tune out), Myd and Nic himself. Just under an hour of tropical bass and rainforest beats for all the family. That Jack Beats tune is madness.

Next up is Supra1... we're massive fans of everything Supra1 have done in the past, and their new direction has been a very pleasent addition to my ears. They're remixes of Drop The Lime's Devil's Eyes and Mumdance & Brodinski's Eurostarr have both been top notch. In this latest mix for The Fat! Club you can catch Brackles' take on their latest offering titled I Still Believe.

To finish off here's something more along the chilled route, a new mix from one of my favourite producers out there, Bomb The Bass known to many as Tim Simenon. If you're not familiar with this producer, then I suggest you stick your head inside a Piñata, so we can all take pops at you. Bomb The Bass came to light back in 1987 with his No. 2 hit Beat Dis... helping to almost single handedly usher in DJ culture over night and was responsible for on of the most iconic images in clubland... The Yellow Smiley Face. Yes, pretty damn big. I was lucky enough to be given the honour of reviewing his last album Future Chaos a couple of years ago, and it's good to see him at work again so soon, and promoting his latest release, Back To Light, his new 10 track LP, produced in conjunction with Gui Boratto. An interesting pairing none the less, and since I've not reviewed an album for quite a while, expect one on Bomb The Bass in the next week or so, it's been long overdue on this blog. You can also grab a FREE mp3 from the album if you head over the album's official site... HERE.

Introducing... Musk Man Benji

Now... quick one this morning on some really interesting new music I've been sent recently. It comes from Musk Man Benji, one man making big noises in the Northeast of England at the moment. He's even DJ'd at Bigger Than Barry in the recent past as well... bigups bro!

Want to make you aware of an interesting wee remix he's made of Tempa T's Next Hype and Dexplicit's Bullacake, splashed with a bit of old 8-bit Tetris fun, got to love it! Now yes, Next Hype is old hat and I'm not attempting to par your elitest, up to date taste. It's truly worth your ears, believe me.

Tetris-Hypecake by Musk Man Benji

He's also got a few mixes up on soundcloud I wanted to make you aware of... the Dub/Grime minimix is particularly awesome, whatever that edit of Township Funk it is in there, I bloody need it! But, don't take my word for it... get on it! I also hear B.Rich's Make Me Dance in there too, a fine selection!

Dubstep and Grime Minimix by Musk Man Benji

Also here's his latest 2010 mixtape... I'll get onto him about a tracklisting and get this up asap for you all... anyway, have a top weekend and get a messy as I would.

Kissy Sell Out launches New Label...

So, I'm pretty sure most of you are familiar with a certain DJ/Producer and all round musical rave guru Sir Kissy Sell Out, as I refer to him. I've been a fan of his for a number of years now... always consistantly ahead of the game, a fine fine DJ, and now staying true to his word, by helping the support the best up and coming talent he can find.

This month finally curated and launched his own label that he's been blabbering on about for the past few months... and it's called San City High.
“The ethos of the label is to support the idea of ‘fair trade and freedom for artists’, so I hope that this sets a precedent so we can ALL give something back to the music industry. My love of other people's music has always motivated most things I do in life, so running my own record label where my job is basically to use that natural enthusiasm to help new artists develop their careers and rave on to other people about how good my team's tunes are is a dream come true! I've always believed record labels should be like clubs where you can hang out with friends who like the same things as you do - and that's all San City High is really, you'll never see the San City High logo heading an exclusive 360 multi-album deal contract, but your gonna see the logo fronting some hot music this year and maybe even some cool t-shirts too!”
He's gathered together four of his favourite up and coming producers and DJs for a special Sampler EP, and he's kindly giving away one of the tracks, a 16Bit remix of his single Garden Friends, for FREE! Grab it below...

You can grab the full Sampler EP, with contributions from Hot Pink Delorean, The Squatters and Lazy Flow from the San City High website, for FREE here. There will also be follow up singles from each, all the details are below.
The first official release of the label, will be Kissy's new single with Tinashe, titled Come On Over... which has been supported with remixes from Leatherhead, Urchins, Punx Soundcheck and Schizofonics. Kissy has given us a run down all of the releases for you to put in your diaries... what a nice chap.

  • 08.03.10: Kissy & Tinashe - Come On Over (This Could Be Love) (Single)

  • 18.03.10: San City High Sampler EP (FREE download)
  • 19.04.10: The Squatters – Monster (A Side), On Fire (B Side)

  • 31.05.10: Hot Pink Delorean - The Court Jester (A Side), Let’s Go (B Side)

  • 12.07.10: Lazy Flow - Winchester (A Side), Tokyo Express (B Side)

There will also be two parties to support the release of the label happening in London over the next few months.
The first is a FREE Mixmag party at London's Vibe Bar on April 25th. With the following line up...LATE OF THE PIER (DJ SET), KISSY SELL OUT (DJ SET), JACK BEATS, DOORLY, FENECH SOLER (LIVE), DANIMAL KINGDOM (LIVE), LEATHERHEAD, SLY FLY DJS, THE SQUATTERS, DOLLOP DJS TOMB CREW, BLAMMA! BLAMMA!, JONNY RAP ATTACK, WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS, HARRY BIRD, WONKY NINJA + SPECIAL GUEST PA’S BY TINIE TEMPAH & TINASHE. You can find all the information on the facebook event, HERE.
The second is the official album launch party on May 19th at The Den (formally The End)... with performances from Kissy himself, Hot Pink Delorean, Lazy Flow, The Squatters and Urchins.

I hope to see you at Vibe Bar on April 25th! I'll probably be the one dancing like a right goon while Jack Beats and Zeds Dead are playing ;).

Blogs Don't Matter

If only every venue in the UK had this sign outside it (no sarcasm intended in that statement, believe me!)

Pipedown #02 - Keysound

The Pipedown blog is coincidentally also celebrating their 1st birthday during the month of March - and I can't think of a blog/collective who have been as solidly excellent in everything they've done over that year (bar perhaps the blog, Blackdown they are collaborating with for their second night).

So to ring in their 2nd birthday, the Pipedown boys are taking over both rooms at the Rhythm Factory on Wed 31st March. Joining them are the Keysound team - Keysound is the label run by Martin Clark aka Blackdown, one of the longest running and most intelligently written dubstep and grime blogs.

So on the night the Pipedown residents are joined by Blackdown & Dusk (Rinse FM, Blackdown), LHF and Kowton. The LHF productions that I've heard on the Blackdown blog and on his Rinse show has to be some of the most exciting new music I've heard in quite some time - and this rare DJ appearance from them is not one to be slept on. I've never been able to obtain much information on the LHF crew - but their productions sound absolutely out of this world, like nothing else that is being produced at the moment. To get a taste of what to expect on the night, check out the LHF warmup mix for the night - download here or stream below. All of the names on the tracklist are one of the 7 producers that form the LHF collective. Amen Ra is the crew's DJ and has mixed this promo mix. Make sure you cop this mix, and click attending on the facebook event here AND THEN ACTUALLY ATTEND.

Introducing... Matthew Hiscock

Quick intro to a new producer by the name of Matthew Hiscock who recently sent us a couple of his new tracks, his latest EP, along the lines of the new Dub-Techno sound currently invading airwaves the world over.

Oh Those Sexy Sweatpants, named for the make-no-effort university students living near the studio it was recorded in, is a fun left-field tune that uses unorthodox rhythms and melodic techno stabs to support a beefy bassline that gets the girls moving.

Blimps, on the other hand is a head-down tribute to bass-heavy Maurizio/Basic Channel-style dub techno, all ebb and flow. I'd imagine it's quite a head-turner on a Funktion One... my bedroom is currently shaking with a mere 200w Sub.

Something else I've also found in my google digging for Matt is his own blog which got off the ground just yesterday in fact, with the aim of giving aspiring Bass producers some tips on how to go about giving their tracks that edge and flare. It's in the very early stages at the moment, but there are already three top feature's from up and coming producers on the site... so please head over and check the blog out, which is titled... Make Some Bass.

Matt was also kind enough to send over his latest mix... lashings of funk from all corners of the globe. New cuts from DVA, Edu K, Egyptrixx, Ginz and Starkey. Get down with these bass biscuits.

Tron.

So, it's been a long, long time coming, but Joker will finally release his dancefloor destroyer, Tron, sometime next month, but I'm actually screwing that I don't have any gigs this weekend to be able to play it out at. I've gotta wait until April 3rd... such a shocking state of affairs.

If anyone wants to book me last minute... then please do (vesperdj@googlemail.com :)... I shall charge you nothing! Anyway, back to the point. The immense... Tron.

It's a rare piece of music that has united a diverse range of DJs, including Diplo, Kode 9, Shy FX, Flying Lotus, TC, Caspa, Pinch, Skream, Roska, Martyn, Ginz, J Da Flex, Baobinga, 2nd II None, Reso, Oris J, Cosmin TRG, Appleblim, I.D, Guido, Mike Paradinas, Gemmy, Atki2, Tomb Crew, Bok Bok, Moshi Moshi DJs.... just to name a few.

In anticipation for the release of Tron on Joker's new label Kapsize... the man is running a wee competition to promote the release of Tron where you can win 1 of 15 signed copies of Tron on 12". A pretty sweet wee prize if you ask me.

All you have to do is stick your email address in the widget above... and you'll be sent a confirmation email about all the shizzle. Good luck :) and check out the full versions of Tron and the VIP mix below.

OO le oo

I've written about Little John twice before, most recently here but I can't resist writing about him again - this track OO le oo hasn't left my player since I bagged it from Little John's soundcloud - a lovely piece of wonky hip hop, LJ gets a nice rolling beat with a top little vocal sample over the top. As far as hip hop goes, this is just how I like mine - not as wonky as acts like Kuedo, Slugabed, Kidkanevil, but jammed full of samples and swing (remind you of JayDee much?). This guy deserves to be massive, and this track is waiting to be vocalled apparently, although by who (singer/MC?) I don't know - hopefully see more from Little John on these pages in the future.

Kastle - March 2010 Promo Mix

So last month I introduced you to a new project from one of the biggest names in the house/dubstep/funky'ish scene, that you all know as B.Rich. Producer of some of my favourite tracks from last year, including It'll Be Alright, featuring Domonique, We Ball Harder and Make Me Dance.

His new project Kastle takes on a more musical approach to the bass lead scene we've all come to love over the past few years. Taking in a lot of influences from Dubstep, Grime, Jungle and the UK Bass scene, Kastle is one of the first people, along with Starkey to start spreading the sound over in North America.
He's just popped over his latest March mix to us, this time with a lot more of his own productions and remixes.

One of these productions from his last mix from January, You Got The Love... a cover of the classic that saw a huge resurgence last year thanks to Lungs and The XX, has just been released as part of a charity album.
The release from Abstract Logic Recordings, titled Inner Child... is a benefit album in aid of Atlanta based children's charity, Dream House For Kids. Also with additions from the likes of DZ, Hot Mess, NAPT, Specimen A, Stagga and Virus Syndicate, this is not a release to miss, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity.

Kastle was asked to make his own addition to the album available to you for free below, and if you could support the cause in the best way possible by heading over the Beatport and purchasing some of the tracks, then we along with Dream House For Kids would be truly grateful. Follow the link HERE. Top music for your ears, and essential medical care for those that need it most... everyone wins!

All that's left for me to say now, is buy the album, and download Kastle's latest mix, you won't regret it in the slightest!

Introducing... RipTidE

Now... today I have a bit of a special treat for you in the form of a feature on one of the most exciting new producer's in the world right now. He exploded onto the scene halfway through 2009 with a remix of Jennifer Delano's Amsterdam. I'd imagine a lot of you have heard that remix in some form or another over the past 8 months or so... and hats of to him as it ended up getting a release on the mighty Kitsune, along with a remix from BeatauCue in January of this year.

He's gained support from the likes of Erol Alkan, Aeroplane, Boys Noize, Brodinski, Fake Blood, and Tommie Sunshine among many others. I feel that Tommie Sunshine's description ("it sounds like how drugs feel") of RipTidE's sound, is the best one I've come across.

Now I realise I'm quite late in the day to be declaring my undying love for RipTidE, but the truth is far simpler than that. Since January, RipTidE has been able to quit his job and focus solely on music... freeing up time for some new tunes.

In the past couple of months he's got a new release in the pipeline... the Fireleaf EP, with remixes from Hidden Cat and Clashes; as well as three new remixes, all with release dates in the near future. There's also a new tunes called Fk Me that I've been battering dance floors with for the past couple of months below for you to listen to as well.

Now this is a quick heads up, as I want to focus solely on getting the music into your eyes quickly... and I'd really appreciate your feedback by commenting on the other Soundcloud links below. The remix of Stop The Noise is pretty damn special!

Mix Monday #10

Ey up! Morning all... had a pretty cool weekend... two gigs, one being quite a mental house party... Sunday morning though was not pleasant. Yet, the rest of Sunday was spent driving around London, and listening to these very fine mixes that have been on repeat on my iPod a lot in the past week. I'm in quite a spaced out mood while writing this, so I thought I'd take a break from the norm and give you all something meaning to listen to. As always... enjoy! Stay tight for this week... got some exclusive new tunes and the next installment in our mix series, coming thick and fast now!

First up is Round Table Knights and their recent entry into the great Made To Play podcast series, which you can also grab here and Subscribe to with iTunes. Next up is latest addition to possibly one of the best mix series out there at the present time... I've posted quite a few of these in the past, but this is right up there with the very best of them. I'll let DJ Eleven's synopsis of the mix, summarise the philosophy behind this mix.
"When Matty C first told me about the White Light series, he kept coming back to a description of listening to music while driving at night. Since most of us in New York City don't drive, traveling music has to be approached differently. So I set out to make a mix from records I never get a chance to play out that would provide the perfect soundtrack to the walking, turnstile hopping, dude-selling-his-beat-tape-out-front-of-Fat Beats-avoiding, taxi-hailing, dollar-van-riding, slice-grabbing, coffee-on-the-run-drinking, and then walking a little more that is getting around the Rotten Apple."

Simian Mobile Disco - Cruel Intentions (Maurice Fulton Remix)
Azari & III - Reckless (With Your Love)
Toby Tobias - In Your Eyes (Tensnake Remix)
Lifelike - L.O.V.E Is What You Need
Farley "Jackmaster" Funk - Love Can't Turn Around (Lifelike Remix)
Chromeo - Night by Night (Siriusmo Remix)
Housemeister - What You Want (Siriusmo Remix)
Little Boots - Earthquake (Treasure Fingers' Epicwave Mix)
Curses! - The Deep End (Holy Ghost! Day School Dub)
Bodie Lee - Foxy Tonight (Ajello Remix)
Kris Menace & The Dream - Walking On Lightning (U-Tern Blend)
Empire of the Sun - We Are The People (Shazam Remix)
Walter Jones - I Am Loved
Fred Falke - 8:08pm @ The Beach

Last up this week we have Bruk and his awesome new promo mix for Fabric. This Friday, Ben UFO's Hessle Audio label will be hosting Room 3 at Fabriclive. With Ikonika headlining and with support from Ramadanman, Pangaea, Bruk and Ben UFO himself... it promises to be an epic night of all proportions. I'll be heading along to the night to catch D1 on the decks in Room1 as well as Pangaea and Ben UFO, so if you see me in Room3 milling around (I'll be wearing a white Crack House tee)... then come say Hello :).

Squeaky Bleeps #003 - dangerDan

Morning all... I'd like to introduce to you the third in our mix series... featuring up and coming DJs/Producers from around the UK and the World.
This time we've chosen to feature the talents of one of the most impressive and ear-catching producers I've come across in quite a while.

dangerDan has that rare quality for me... he's able to fuse together everything that I love about the deeper, melodic side of house, techno and electro music, whilst still being able to keep things dancefloor friendly and, critically, purely innocent and fun.

He sent me over his remixes of Armand Van Helden's Funk Phenomenon, Blondie's Call Me, and Sebastian Teiller's Kilometer, which I warmed to and featured on this blog in my old weekly, Monday tune posts. However, it was a certain remix of Little Boot's Earthquake, which struct the most sensitive nerve (particularly at 4:34, when beauty reigns supreme in a remix that has invaded the very top of my iTunes most played list. Touches of glints of Duke Dumont and glints of recent Boy 8-Bit, with the kick of The Subs. I was hooked from that moment onwards.

He's since gone to produce some of his own work, most notably Mokini and Escape, which have certified dancefloor approval from me. You can catch both of these, and a couple of his other cheeky tunes below... and please make sure you check out his Soundcloud page.

The Party Squad - Pull Up (dangerDAN Remix)
King Crimson - The Court of the Crimson King
Chateau Flight - Baroque

Also please check out his fantastic remix of Little Boots... one of my favourite remixes of the whole of 2009... think Boy 8 Bit's remix of Quicksand. Also his remix of Blondie's Call Me... an absolute stomper that one!

TLGB... back to business.

Following on from my gastly excuse for a review of TLGB's (or The Living Graham Bond as he's also known) new remix of Beenie Man earlier today... I thought it was only fair, and morally right of me to inform you of the man's latest mix for March.
You may remember TLGB from last summer, when he won AC Slater's Hello remix competition, with a fine attempt might I add.

He's since gone from strength to strength playing alongside the likes of Riva Starr, Trevor Loveys and Foamo as well as holding his very own EP launch at Always Fridays @ Egg.
Most importantly you can catch him this coming Saturday at Shoreditch's Rhythm Factory for Lee Mortimer and Foamo's Superman launch party, with support coming from Streetlife DJs, Reso and Tek-One. All the info can be found on the facebook event, here.

Foamo - Jookie
Lee Mortimer & Laidback Luke - Blau
Shooting Horses - Jungle People
Riva Starr - Dance Me ft. Trim
Dmitry Fyodorov - Simcoe
Lorcan Mak - Hooo
TLGB - Flicker ft. Fiona Bevan

Here's also a bonus remix... and a sneak preview of TGLB's new EP with folk singer Fiona Bevan... enjoy :) and hold tight for an exclusive mix tomorrow and the next in our mix series from up and coming producer dangerDan. Hold tight for that one.

Tune Tuesday #9

Hey all... got some tunes for your ears today, they will thank me in spades... top sounds and vibes all round and some great exclusives for you this week... get ready for the noise, and please remember to support these artists, if any tickle your fancy ;)

Armand Van Helden - Witch Doktor (Le Vamp's Marvellous Medicine Remix)
Now, a completely new producer for you today who also goes under the name of Attack Yourself! You may have heard some of his material before, and if you're a regular poster on the Erol Alkan forum then you will know Le Vamp in one way or another as his alter ego Attack Yourself!. A pumping funky vibe, big bassline to boot... and sampling a wee bit of Afronuts I hear in there maybe... cheeky ;).

Crookers - Remedy ft. Miike Snow (Jeuce Rework)
I hadn't heard of Jeuce until recently, and testament to their persistance, sending me their material over the past few weeks that I've really warmed to their style. Remedy has definitely been my favourite of Crookers' recent material over the past few months. Animals was good, but a bit of a play now, bin later tune... and No Security never stood up a single on it's own. However, Remedy has dawned on a new Crookers' sound that I'd to see more of in the future.

Beenie Man - Dude (TLGB Remix)
Now here's is a remix to keep you on your toes, I don't think I've listened to this or for that matter heard it in a club since I was about 14 and used to go to those really tacky under 18s parties... where you saw more fish than fosters... I'll let you make what you will of that comment what you wish. Nonetheless, I still fucking love this tune... it's perfect dancefloor cheese and deserves a welcome return. This shall undoubtedly be my weapon of choice tomorrow night at my 16+ residency... let's see if we can rekindle some of that 'Birds Eye' flavour... haha.... grim.

Pitchwit - Bulletproof ft. J Dog
Something a little different for you now... some straight up post-Justice electro from Pitchwit that is really reminding me of Phantom Pt. II in places... certainly the lead riff anyway. If you think otherwise, then I'm sorry, you have been shown to door. Enough to the similarities though, as it's been a while since I've listened to something similar to Justice recently, where I've wanted to hit the play button again.
This is the first release from new label Sic Outfit... welcome to the party lads... More of this please!!!

Autokratz - Skin Machine
The London based duo return after a hugely successful year in my opinion in 2009. I was lucky enough to catch them on tour, and was really impressed by the diversity of their live show. A multitude of equipment and gadgetry... making for a top show.
Skin Machine is a wee taster of what's to come in 2010 for Autokratz with a new EP coming soon on Kitsune, titled Kick... I shall of course keep you posted.

Mix Monday #9

A new week, with three new and one timeless classic mix for ya'll... some big things to come this week also from us, so keep checking back here in the next few days... the next in our very own mix series and some top new exclusives from the best in the biznizz!

First up this week is my favourite DJ of 2009... Kissy Sell Out. In my opinion no DJ in the world (I know, a bit of a bold claim) is able to fuse together such a melting pot of sounds, with such fine attention to detail.
If there is anyone in the DJ game that truly works for his salary its this Essex man. You'll never see him standing still or with his 'hands in the air' for more than half a second during on of his sets. Constantly flipping the sound and changing the beat.

He quickly rose up the ranks during 06'/07' and was offered an In New DJs We Trust spot on Radio 1, and then the same year was asked to pioneer his own show.
He's drawn some criticism in the past for his style of 'pre-warping' tunes to the same tempo before his sets, but as you'll soon see from this Essential Mix, those questions are soon blown out of the window, by the sheer intensity of his shows. An essential mix comprising of 55 tunes in 60 minutes, mixed by ear on CDJs with plenty of his own edits, mashups and dancefloor friendly specials.

Personally I admire DJs who push the boundaries of what should be technically possible for a human to be able to do with decks and a mixer... Kissy is certainly no exception and I've yet to find another DJ whose willing to play Beethoven, REM, Daft Punk and Jack Beats in the same one hour set, yet still make it danceable and fun.

Next up is for me one of London's most underrated DJs in Not Shy. He's been running the iconic This Is Not A Rave @ the Horse & Groom in Shoreditch for the last couple of years, which I was recently invited down to play at, and he also regularly graces the decks at Egg. A merging style of booty techno and feel good house, with a technical ability and crowd reading mind, many would be jealous of.
Grab his latest mix below and catch his array of other fine selections on his Soundcloud.

Along with some buddies over at the Erol forum we've managed to put together a nice track-listing... it's missing a couple of key details, but they'll be updated here soon! Hot mix... don't miss!

The last mix is one Ben suggested... I've been listening all day... a fine, fine mix from probably the biggest band in the world right now. The multi talents of James Smith know no boundaries. A beautiful mix of atmospheric sounds, with light lavishing of 2step and one top drum solo.
He's making me feel a bit useless about my current DJ'ing hobby, when it's just something on the side for him to do for fun.
