Tune Tuesday #7

Seeing as yesterdays' Mix Monday was themed a little different to usual, I though maybe let's continue on the theme for the rest of the week... mix things up a little bit. Today we're all about Classics. Not the, "embarrassingly drunk dad, dancing alone at a wedding, classics" more the "Omg! I've not heard this tuuune in so long", and "ahhh what I nice groove, kind of classics".

Life is all about the groove right now, seeing as the word Vibe or Vybe or Vwyyyyyyyybe seems to be getting used far too much at the moment, by myself and many others. Therefore it's time to bring back the groove. A little bit of funk, a little bit of fun. Almost cheesy, but still awesome.

I'm rambling about pointless shit again, so I will stop now and leave you with some tunes I've been feeling rather a lot lately. Enjoy them, as always... as much as he would!

Double 99 - Ripgroove
Now this has been flying around in all sorts of forms over the last year, with remixes coming from every scene, Dubstep to House to Techno... even Cirez D has a go at it, failing miserably. What needs to be remembered is the original and how much of an impact it is still making on music today. It must of been sampled a thousand times and still it's being played in the clubs. One of my favourite tunes that there ever was.

Tina Moore - Never Gonna Let You Go
A fine, fine garage classic from back in 1997, the year when Labour gained power for the first time in 18 years and The Spice Girls ruled the world. Strange times ey! I always remember my mum playing this from time to time during my childhood. It always used to come on during some of the most memorial times as well. Like family gatherings... usually parties or yes, wedding receptions. Still though, can't get over those vocals... timeless.

Groove Armada - I See You Baby
Nothing comes close to this for me, for just the pure fun factor. No matter how many times I listen to it, it still makes me smile. And yes, it does still partly remind me of that hideously annoying Renault Megane advert, but I can live with that. You can't help but get the feet tapping and the head nodding to this tune. Again from the 90s, but slightly later, 1999. Yes, this tune is now over a decade old, and I'm only 20, but that  fact is starting to make me feel old!

Shanks - Sweet Like Chocolate
Don't shake your head at me like that, I'll have you know this is top tune. Yeah yeah, a little bit pre-teen school disco, cringe worthy, younger sister playing with her Barbie dolls, but sometimes you just can't top a nice 2-step beat. I was going to post Sweet Female Attitude, but I think this is a little bit lesser known, and probably something you haven't listened to in years.

De La Soul - The Magic Number
I sometimes listen to this if I think I've played a bit of a wank set. "Everybody wants to be a Deejay, everybody wants to be an Emcee, but being speakers are the best, and you don't have to guess". Sometimes I try and think of myself as the speakers rather than as a DJ when I play out. If there is one thing I want to avoid, it's getting a big ego or becoming too full of myself. Being confident about your style and your talent is all well and good, but we can all cross the line sometimes. Pure feel good tune.

Mix Monday #7: Jack Beats

Morning all... got something slightly different for you this week, not just a barrage of mixes, and you've probably heard about the Essential Mix that Beni and Naill did at the weekend for Radio 1, but instead of just posting that mix up, like everyone one else has been non stop in the last 48 hours, we've got an exclusive treat for you. Now I've had this for a wee while now, but have been waiting for the perfect moment to use it and make this post all worthwhile. Here you go...

An exclusive Squeaky Bleeps interview with the one and only Jack Beats.

I caught up with Beni at the country's BIGGEST 16+ phenomenon known as Under The Radar, at their Xmas bash at London's Ministry of Sound, when I was lucky enough to play in the same room as Beni on the night. First comes the interview, followed by the review video of the night which is very kindly uploaded by Under The Radar every 6 weeks or so to their YouTube page.

First off, congratulations on a huge year for You…I remember hearing your remix of Jack Got Jacked back in October 08' and thinking, these are going to be huge, but even I've been surprised by how quickly it's all happened, getting signed to Cheap Thrills as well has been massive for you, how have you found 2009?
Thanks! It’s been great. Super busy, lots of remixes, loads of gigs, which is always nice. Yeah, 2009 has just been nuts for Jack Beats.
What's been the most memorable gig?
The most memorable gig? ahhh! you know what, there’s been so many, I’ve been up and down the country, all over Europe, and quite literally the globe. It’s quite hard to pin-point one particular gig. I couple of festivals I guess have been a highlight I guess. And Damn, these Under The Radar gigs are always pretty hot, these kids are just nuts!
I’ve been quite impressed over say the last six months, you’ve kind of tried to let go of the old fidget scene, and matured as a duo. You’re remixes of Drumming Song and Little Secrets kind of venture into different areas. Kind of a deeper house almost Jungle bassline, is that a path you were maybe looking to venture into?
You know I think some people think that we’re just out and out party bangers and kinda you know, rinse out, which we can do, and we can do really well. But, I mean, we’ve been in music for about 15 years now, and the deeper kind of style has always been something we’ve wanted to do in certain ways. To start off with we just wanted to do club bangers, but I think we want to throw lots of different things into the mix as the next year kind of rolls out. The deeper stuff and the more melodic stuff, I guess.
What are your plans for the album launch next year that we’ve heard about?
Well, I guess it’s a work in progress at the moment. We’re writing at the moment, and just hoping to see what comes out of it?
Do you see it as say the next logical step for Jack Beats?
Yeah, yeah of course, I mean of course some people want to get the chance to do a full studio album, and that’s something we’re working towards. Basically, see where we at sort if mid next year, and see where things go from there.
Just please don’t take as long as Crookers though, yeah?
Haha, no, I think we’ll definitely try and keep it so that it comes around as soon as it can really.
Awesome. Now lastly, there’s a remix of Super Sharp Shooter, sort of floating about, what’s the score with that?
Yeah! Well, Zinc asked us to do it, must be a good 18 months ago now, and it’s unfinished as it is, I just kind of use it in DJ sets really. Everyone’s asking about it, but I spose we’ll get around to finishing it, at some point you know.
Please release it!!!
Ha, maybe, maybe!
Anyway, thanks very much, and good luck for the future.
Safe, bigup!

If there are any 16/17 year olds that do read this blog, then I honestly suggest you get in the know with Under The Radar, there is no other company putting on nights in the entire UK that even come close to matching it's pedigree! UTR facebook fan page, here! Get in the know!

Now, back to Jack Beats and their amazing Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. A lot has been said about Jack Beats in the past, but I think to truly understand their sound you really have to take into consideration a number of factors.

They seem to be able to fuse together the essence of that 'old skool' sound in with an almost uplifting rave sound, which is very prevalent in the first 3 minutes of this mix and the build up to their remix of This Kiss. The kind of sound you hear in Jonny L's Hurt You So, almost cheesy vocals, but on a kick ass beat, with space like sounding synths.

I think it's great they haven't made a tune with any old skool kind of rave breaks parts, like the breakdowns on Harvard Bass's Caked. They seem to want to bring back what was great about rave in their younger years, but put their own stamp on things, without overcomplicating things, which a lot of people these days seem to forget, churning out remix after meaningless remix. In about 10 years, when hopefully I'll still be DJ'ing, some of their tracks, especially Little Secrets, Jack Got Jacked, Drop The Pressure, Get Off, U.F.O and most definitely Labyrinth will stand out as right little gems.

Labyrinth is probably their closest thing to something unique that no one can close to musically. Yeah it's got a wobbly bassline, but I don't think it would work any other way, and just because it has one doesn't mean that the idea has been ruined. It's like a timestamp of 2009 for me that tune. Last summer people were fusing together house and dubstep and some were already getting fed up of it, moving onto more tech-house and the bass scenes, but I think Labyrinth is probably the last thing that comes close to what that true sound represented.

As for their percussion, that's just on another level, the drums in their remix of Mars are tight as fuck!
Anyway rant over, that's what I think Jack Beats are all about anyway. It was a lot deeper than just sticking a dubstep wobble on a house beat. Their album will surprise a lot of people I think. Sonically, anyway, but first download this Essential Mix. Tight and golden.

White Light #19 - Your Boy Brian

Some easy sunday afternoon/evening listening here from the latest installment in the White Light Mix Series. I posted up #18 a couple of weeks ago, also slightly late with this one, but wanted to wait until I had a Sunday to post it for you. Tracklisting as usual, is impeccable, and some great classics in this mix, Pet Shop Boys, respect!

The latest mix has been compiled by Ontario's Your Boy Brian, who is by trade more of a commercial DJ than an underground DJ or Producer. It's interesting for me to see such a diverse taste from someone whos used to playing the likes of Riverside and Show Me Love week in week out. It's definitely a positive thing to see people in the business with an eclectic sound; spurs me on to keep writing about up and coming new music. Also, top DJ name. My dad's name is Brian, just thought I'd throw that out there, randomly, for no apparent reason.

Anyway, before I get all soppy and start to sound like David Cameron at a mother's meeting, let's get down to the mix with a foreword from Brian himself... p.s. I really do hope that's his real name.

White Light. Music. Space. Time. Heaven.
"This mix was a pleasant departure from all the commercial gigs i've been taking on lately. It's sorta paced like a movie / square rpg; little peaks and valleys, a few bittersweet melodies, a cathartic finish and then the credits roll. It's also makes for decent listening while you're doing crossword puzzles."

The XX - Intro (Extended Edit)
Masanori Ikeda - City Lights
Pet Shop Boys - Love Comes Quickly
The Rah Band - Message From The Stars
Bwh - Stop
Pacific! - Villanova Sunset
Defender - Bliss
Sebastien Leger - Victory (Lifelike Flashing Victory Vision Remix)
DJ DLG - Memories
Marchand - Starlove
Capsule - I'm Feeling You
Zoot Woman - Information First
New Order - Perfect Kiss
Mille - Stargazers
Ronald Jenkees - Outer Space

So new in fact, it's only been off the ground since December. This mix is from January, but that really means nothing when you look at a tracklisting like this.

Perfect vibes, awesome bass, and the cheekiest cover of Radiohead I've ever heard. A new side project from one of the US scene's biggest players (you know that dude B.Rich right? of course you do) and with a forthcoming release on Starkey's Seclusiasis, Kastle is set for a big, big, big year... This is BIG!

New Darkstar

Not much to say about this - except that the forthcoming Darkstar LP on Hyperdub has to be one of my most anticipated releases of 2010 - don't think a definite date has been set yet, but I'm waiting! Check out two new Darkstar bits below first is untitled and was played on Giles Peterson's BBC show, the second (Automating) is a bit Darkstar posted on their Twitter - saying that it was too rough and wouldn't be making the cut for the album. If this is what Darkstar think of as a 'rough' song then this LP will be absolutely ridiculous!

Enjoy!

Photomachine

A quick one here, but a fantastic mix which you need in your life... no tracklisting, but this guy is a bright new talent that requires your immediate attention... I foresee big things for Photomachine in 2010.

Bart B More - Romane EP

So next week Sound Pellegrino's first release of 2010 sees it release date come about, something I think the entire clubbing world (the people that actually matter) have been waiting for, for about 3 months solid. When I first heard that Bart B More was to release a tune on Sound Pellegrino I wasn't completely sure it would work, but upon hearing the preview's I was won over.

Last year I posted up two tunes by the ever emerging Rubix for your ears and he's just got in touch with his own remix of Romane, which I can tell you is fantastic. Rubix has placed his own quirky gypsy edge to things. Eastern-European rave at it's very best :P. Grab a listen below, and head over to any decent download service on Monday and buy the EP.

MJ Cole + Radio 1 = Speaker Porn.

Been listening to this non-stop all day after Ras Kwame sat in for Toddla T on his In New DJs we trust show recently. MJ uploaded the mix to his Soundcloud. Absolutely awesome mix, new tunes and vibes from a whole host of producers.

I've been really impressed with how MJ Cole has embraced the new scene in the past 18 months or so. Not simply jumping on the band wagon, but taking a step back and looking at how he can adapt his sound and incorporate the vibes of everyone else in the scene. He's kind of making a second coming for himself, a bit like Zinc has done in the House scene of late. Much respect.

It's not available for download, but I urge you to get down with this top mix Thekla Riddim along is worthy of huge praise, big stuff! Also there's a bonus download of an awesome tune I used to love in my  teens, bigups to MJ for making it available to us all for free!

Tune Tuesday #6

Hope you all enjoyed the new mixes yesterday, that Dan Aux mix was pumping loud I have to admit, he's really impressing me with his own take on the new glitch-bent tech-house basslines we've been hearing non-stop since last summer. Anyway on with today's action and some great new tunes for you... all big exclusives! Let's do it!

First up is our firm favourite dangerDan whose sent us over his top new remix of Partysquad's Pull Up, which was released on Mad Decent recently. A slightly darker route than his previous works, a lot more big room techno that some of his easier listening tunes. This would go down great during a peak time set in between some Style of Eye and Zombie Disco Squad. Top remix.

Please keep an eye out for this lad in 2010, he's going to blow up, mark my words.

Next up is something a little different, but all the more welcome here on Squeaky Bleeps. Anything that fuses Jungle riddims with Rye Rye deserves a medal in my book. Straight up dance floor fun this is from Yeah! Woho!. If you're looking for something to wake up the crowd from some bassline numbing Dubstep then this is perfect. I promise. Bigups dude, keep sending us material! And anyone else reading this... check out his fantastic website for other tunes and mixes. Look out for some exclusive material coming soon from this Swedish upstart!

Soulico feat. Rye Rye - Exotic On The Speaker (Yeah! Woho! Remix)  by  Yeah! Woho!

Last but certainly by no means least is e-Minded and his Ghetto-House take on Ymee's Wizard. Really feeling the old skool vibes in this one, kind of harks back to the days when Switch was first making noises and beginning to transform the London clubbing scene with Herve and Sinden. Unfortunately at the time I was still just under 18 and never got to see the really early Fidget scene in action, before wobbly basslines and cut up childish vocals kind of ruined it. Anyway enough of that, because this is a brilliant remix and e-Minded is definitely someone to take notice of. You'll be seeing more material by this Belgian prodigy very soon, keep locked into his Soundcloud

Christoph is also a promoter for a night running in Brussels called Needle On The Record at Club Rumba; they're currently putting the final touches together on the next edition of their night, which features a label showcase from none other than Mad Decent (bigups!) and up and coming label Ghetto Division. You can find out all the information about this night on the website, here!

First up is a Feb promo mix from none other than Dan Aux, the latest DJ from down under (New Zealand that is) to start showing the world how its done. I've been a huge fan of his edit's and remixes in the last few months, with his recent remix of Two Fresh's Bhanga being one of the picks of the year so far for me.

They're kindly sent us their new promo mix, a short half hour mix comprising of their current favs. You can catch a preview of Soap below and grab the mix. Also please if you're feeling them, head over a Beatport and support them in the best way possible!

Vesper... Live @ This is Not a Rave

Hey hey peeps... quick heads up on my next gig this weekend @ This is Not a Rave supporting none other than Scott Cooper, who many of you may know from his great remix of AC Slater's Rock It Out, out last year on Nightshifters, which I was a big fan of.

I'm super excited to be supporting such a big dawg in the game; as a former part of the Moda collective, learning his trade with the likes of Andy George, Jaymo and Tom Staar. He's toured The States, Canada, Europe and had regular annual outings to Ibiza. I've got a lot to live up to, but relishing the chance to give people some fine tunes to dance to.

It's being held at Shoreditch's famous Horse & Groom, a place I believe I once got chucked out of for being under-age, so it will be quite lols playing there this time. I'm not 100% sure on my set time yet... but I will add it to this page / tweet it when I know... 'Vesper Twitter'. Essential details below:

SATURDAY 13 FEBRUARY

This Is Not A Rave @ Horse & Groom
28 Curtain Road, Shoreditch, EC2A 3NZ
9 til 4am
Free before 11pm - £4/ £3 conc

Showcase:
Scott Cooper (Wearhouse Music / Potty Mouth Music)
Vesper (Squeaky Bleeps)
+ Residents: Not Shy / Nic Liu / Pressplay / Rick Tozer

Facebook Event: HERE!

Scott Cooper blends jackin electronic house with eclectic influences of hip-house, ragga and dancehall. His diverse spin on the underground sound has made him a less predictable - but always rowdy - addition to the Potty Mouth Music roster.
“I’d describe my style as all-embracing in the way that I like to get a lot of different sounds and make sense of them in both my productions and my DJ sets".
Scott does his thing, and does it well, but I'll be taking things down a slightly different route with some quite serious, but non the less beats this time around. I've been quite used to playing to a more 16+ grimey/funky crowd lately, so it'll be a nice change. Basically if you like anything on Trouble & Bass, Hostage-vibed or anything of the slightly odd natured, but crazy Dubstep with lots of soul, then come down for a dance, it's sure to be a riot!

Support also comes from T-I-N-A-R residents Not Shy, Nic Lui, Pressplay and Rick Tozer.
Downstairs, Mooch are riding high of the blow out 1st Birthday last month and have been asked to party again. They've got Chris Finke venturing down from Birmingham’s techno institution which is Atomic Jam who'll be dropping some tech-house n dirty techno with support from the residents Natalie Coleman, Yellowcake and Nick Subkulture.

Head honcho Not Shy has made available this fantastic promo mix to get you in the mood for the night. Grooves and vibes of the future aplenty here, please get on the d/l.

Pelski / London / 19th February

In the world of blogs, it's rare that we get a chance to celebrate our existence in this physical word - and our friends over at You Can Call Me Pelski have outdone themselves this time with a Pelski night, in London no less. This is going to be an absolute stormer of a night. Rustie has to be one of the most exciting names to see on a lineup - his no show for the Numbers Fabriclive earlier this year makes this even more of a must-see appearance! I believe this is the Glaswegian's first actual appearance in London in 2010, so definitely not one to be missed. Each and every of Rustie's tracks crackle with life and energy, his set will be no different!

Roska's productions have been killing it lately, with remixes for all kinds of people - Erol Alkan's Phantasy imprint, Four Tet, Zed Bias and Untold. With a remix schedule that varied you'd think the man would have no time to produce original productions - but Roska's forchcoming LP proves otherwise, plus to boot the man has a regular RinseFM slot!

So - London, Big Chill House, Kings Cross, 19th February, Free before 12, £5 after - full lineup:
Lineup

Rustie (Wireblock, Warp)
Roska (Kicks & Snares)
The Boog-A-Loo Crew (Trouble Vision)
Charles Darkly (You Can Call Me Pelski)

Lastly check out this mix from The Boog-A-Loo Crew - they're warming up the night, and this mix is a fine example of what you're likely to hear - a more soulful side to UK garage, 2step, UK Funky and Dubstep - including some serious heat from Dark Sky, who form part of the Boog-A-Loo Crew.

Geeneus – Yellow Tail (VIP)
DVA – Ganja
Bassjackers & Apster – Klambu
Mosca – Square One (Julio Bashmore Remix)
Jazzanova – I Can See (Don Daneeka Remix)
Pariah – And Thoughts of You Still Cross My Mind
Jose James – Blackmagic (Joy Orbison Remix)
Cinnamon Chasers – Luv Deluxe (Scaba Remix)
Greymatter – Believe In Somehting (TRG Remix)
Dark Sky – Leave
Fantastic Mr Fox – Brandy
The xx – Crystalized (Dark Sky Remix)

AC Slater... You Got The Love.

I've been consistantly impressed with AC's output of late, there are some producers that put out quantity in hope to gain momentum that way, and some who go for a more minimal approach with fewer releases, focussing a little more on perfection. Then there is Aaron AKA AC Slater, without a doubt my favourite producer of the last two years.

His ability to churn out the remixes and original works at such a high standard is testament to his longevity as a Producer, and then here his longevity as an outstanding DJ and connoisseur, which comes into play, here. Being over the pond in NYC could sometimes leave you slightly at bay from the European/UK scenes, but with Starkey keeping that locked down well, AC is able to reap the rewards of now branching into the UK Bass scene and still maintaining his ties with the Heavy Bass scene in the Big Apple.

With two new releases coming out way on Trouble & Bass soon; Take Me, featuring Ninjasonik, his Calm Down series and Transatlantic Riddim with Mumdance on the way as well, 2010 is going to be another profitable year. Due to working commitments the last two times AC has played in London, I've been unable to see him, yes I want to shoot me as well, but rest assured come T&B's next residency at Fabric (I hope it continues into 2010) I shall be there. Anyway less about my incessant love and more about his new fantastic exclusive mix for Bestival festival's Besti-Blog. A great half hour mix up of new Techno, UK Bass, bass heavy House and Old Skool naughtiness.

That's also the best promo pic for a DJ the world has ever known... git.

Tune Tuesday #5

New tunes for today... get on the download and check out the producers involved. Me and Ben will be playing at Oceana, Brighton tonight for Union... if you're in the area the come down and say Hi... details here. Anyway, to the tunes!

First up is LSMitchell and his awesome new tune Empire, which he kindly sent over today. Inspired by the productions of the likes of Hot City, Harvard Bass and I'm guessing L-Vis 1990's newer material, this new production has definitely hit a sweet spot from me.
With releases on Freek Records and RuNT already in the bag and this new production currently doing it's rounds on the blogs, 2010 looks to be a big year for this Jersey-based protege.

LSMitchell - Empire  by  LSMitchell

Next up is I Killed Kenny and their new remix of Lady GaGa... something not to be attempted with a faint heart or several pints slowly digesting through your bloodstream. But, they've given it a fair crack and in one in one afternoon at college, came up with this little gem. Pass it round, play it loud... cos in truth it's actually quite catchy.

Paparazzi has always been one of the better tracks (lyrically) off of The Fame, so I was quite pleasently surprised to hear a track of such diverse pedigree. I don't know if it was accident, but it's come out having a rather Sound Pellegrino edge, percussion wise anyway, which is never a bad thing and it's right up our street, now get on it.

Finally, last up is something a little bit more pumping from of Sweden's finest new producers Legobeat. Hailing from Stockholm with recent love from Discobelle, this production and DJ duo are making big noises in mainland europe and I foresee a big record deal for them this year. This tune kind of builds on lasts year's great explorations into more tropical and loved up techno, Douster clearly being a force of influence here. Yet there is something dark about their work, and I look forward to what comes of their sound throughout the year. This remix is for a remix competition for Ayoba! itself, I wish them all the best of luck with that quest.

I cannot express to you enough my deepest apologies for the lack of content in the turn of the year. Friday Tunes

Some new tunes from me to kickstart the weekend. New bizzniss from man like Nosaj Thing, Sinden, The Blue Nile, Geeneus and a classic garage cut from El-B.

First off, LA hip-hopper Nosaj Thing is on remix duties for Charlotte Gainsbourg's Heaven Can Wait. Full of false starts and reversed samples, Nosa Thing's ethereal production style combines with Gainsbourg's lovely vocals to create something a bit special here - all staccatto claps, lush synths bubbling up and a timeless vocal refrain - "Heaven Can Wait".

Next up, the remix package for new XX single Islands is jammed full of quality mixes - Delorean and Faulty DL mixes are both worth checking out - although unfortunately, for once Untold's effort falls short (for me anyway) - the Untold mix would be better as a standalone track, with the XX's vocal stylings seeming ill suited to the percussive tension Untold brings to his productions. The real treasure in this package is the Blue Nile Remix, which introduces a new piano line and bathes the vocals in reverb.

Geeneus kills it once again with another funky banger - the Yellowtail VIP rolls along nicely with a percussive beat and a properly banging synth line, all set off by that repeating vocal sample.

Sinden's clearly been switching up what he's been listening to lately - his tracklists for his Kiss FM show have been showing it for a while, and it's beginning to be evident in his productions too. His mix of Miike Snow's Sylvia builds from a simply UK funky drum beat to a sweltering tropical house riddim. Dreamy vocal lines and a nice piano refrain don't hurt either.

Last up, classic UK garage slice for you from El-B. One for the heads who know this one - I was watching a few of the Red Bull Music Academy lecture videos, and when people were questioned over the origins of dubstep this producer popped up every time. That dark 2-step thing with skittering rhythms and real sub bass that was being produced by heads like El-B, Horsepower, Zed Bias would go on to become influence each and every of the original dubstep producers. This track Buck & Bury was played by both Skream & Kode 9 in their RBMA lectures as an example of this dark garage sound, and rightly so. Can't stop doing the Buck and Bury....

Any Brighton heads should make sure they head to Aka Aka Roar on Monday to catch Ramadanman - I'll be doing my usual residency thing, warming up and closing the night - cheap drinks all night, £2 entry, Life - dun know.

Exposure

Something a bit different today - heads like Jeff Mills, Drexciya and everyone else involved in the Underground Resistance collective have been pushing their own incredibly unique and aesthetically complex view of what music should sound like and how it should be presented since 1989. I thought it was worthwhile posting up a few choice tunes - unfortunately I'm far too badly informed to even begin to offer a reading into the philosophy behind Underground Resistance's methods, but if you want to get an idea of that, check out Kodwo Eshun's Fear of A Wet Planet article for the Wire. Only Youtube links today I'm afraid, but please support UR and Drexciya by buying some releases - Electronic Warfare 2.0 (2008) by Underground Resistance is available on Boomkat MP3 here, and there is plenty of Drexciya vinyl on Discogs - the Bubble Metropolis 12" is a perfect introduction - check here. Enough of that, onto the tunes.

LATE EDIT: A UR fan has put together an amazing YouTube video which summarizes the whole movement much better than i could ever have, and it's fucking hilarious!

Now, finally to finish on... with more of a stipped back vibe... here is the latest White Light mix from one of the biggest dawgs in the game, Neoteric. Here showcasing a slightly different side to his taste, that I've grown to love, along with the whole ethos of White Light Mixes. They are timeless, each one, cherry picked for prime listening, chilling pleasure. Please check out some of the others as well. Neoteric also wrote a synopsis for the mix, highlighting what I feel speaks volumes for the series.
"It's been amazing to see this series blossom into what it has become! My last White Light mix (Vol 5) was one of my favourite mixes that I've ever done, but I wanted to go deeper on this one to really catch the 'Night Driving / Zone Out' vibe. This one is much less vocal, way more mind trip, and features some very strong productions from acts who are really pushing this sound. This is pretty heady, moody stuff, and the vocals that were picked resonate strongly with emotion. I hope this mix strikes a nerve and is the cosmic soundtrack along your ways. Look towards the light!"
