Weekly News

We've not had a weekly news post for quite a while, partly due to my busyness getting spending money for my holiday, and Ben DJing constantly, but for this week... here it all is!

First up is the official music video for Myagi's new track Heat, which ben kindly informed you of on Monday... it's a corker, depicting scenes from the Cold War and nuclear weapons tests during the 1960s and 70s with some amazing editing from Liss James over at Reverse Panda.

One thought I had yesterday as I trawled through past posts, was thinking there's not been much of a focus on promoting nights in and around my local area, something I did want to do when I set out this blog. so I'm going to start rounding up all the nights out in and around the SE London/Kent area that I feel are trying to push musical boundaries, and through hard work prove they're a successful venture.

First up is Dirty Pint, a club/live event that runs fortnightly and aims to bring the people of dartford quality live music/dj's. Fronted by Seany Bizzle (aka YesSiOui), the night was setup to develop and revive a local live music scene of Dartford, Kent by bringing people music from spanning a variety of genres and backgrounds. It's a great place for decent local acts to get a chance to play alongside some of the countries hottest prospects and future stars.
Sean says:

"I heavily focus on bringing a massive amount of diversity to our nights, we want to provide something for everyone. I suppose we would be labelled as an 'alternative' clubnight, but you're likely to hear our DJ's playing anything from indie to electro to fidget to DnB to Dubstep..etc. Our main priority is making sure the people who come have a great time and want to come back again and again. Dirty Pint exists to bring you a quality of a London clubnight without the hassle of travelling into the city and spending a fortune. If quality is on your doorstep, why not make the most of it? People are begining to realise that now, and we're getting busier and busier with every event. I'm booking bands/artists/dj's - left, right and centre. This is a great boom-time for the UK's local music scene, and Dirty Pint is here to make it even better.

Sean has also sent us in an exclusive mix, which he emphasises was made with 100% DJ hardware (his decks and hands) and no software, of course besides maybe Audacity to record it into ;). A sterling tracklisting also I must admit, I'm a huge fan of that South Central remix and especially Don Diablo's stirling rework of Example.

Tracklisting:
1. Walking on a dream (south central remix) – Empire of The Sun
2. Warriors Dance (south central remix) – Prodigy
3. Apocalypse – Chewy Chocolate Cookies
4. Hey Today – Wonderman
5. Everyone’s a DJ (Edu K mix) – Act Yo Age
6. Rich Girls (A1 Bassline remix) – The Virgins
7. Gal Dem Na Like Me (A1 Bassline Remix) – Quemists ft Wiley
8. Girl Can’t Dance (Don Diablo rework) – Example
9. 18-30 (Elektrons remix) – Reverend and The Makers
10. Disco Sirens (Boy 8-Bit remix) – Midnight General
11. So Many Roads (Herve remix) - Example

Also very stirling is the fact that I will be representing Squeaky Bleeps and laying down some sick beats and vibes at the next Dirty Pint, which takes place this Friday at Bar Mondo, Dartford, Kent, which also features a special guest DJ set from up and coming band Rochelle, whose debut single Chin Up recieved Radio 1 play during the build up to it's release.
Please come down and support the cause! All the details can be found here...

Today saw argurably the most popular blog out there at the moment, Palms Out Sound, finally launched their new radio show on the increasingly popular online station/blog TheHype.

Featuring some of the best in electro and wobbly beats, which came live from Brooklyn, NYC and the UK. I've been listening in to the first couple of hours of the show and can tell you it's been absolutely bangin'.
Also from Palms Out have been the second and fourth editions of Palm Out's Sounds of Summer mixtape series from Sidechains and A1 Bassline. I hear the third issue was supposed to have been made available last week, however, Jaymo & Andy George requested more time... which is understandable with their current DJing schedule and Radio 1 show to fit in as well.
This week sees the next editions being released from Louis La Roche, His Majesty Andre and an addition from High Rankin is on its way also.
